Well Guitar Hero isn't a bad game per se. It still gives better rewards to players than any of BEMANI division games. The games are geared towards people who have enthusiasm in the Rock scene. So it isn't too bad, just not as diversified as I would like. but not bad.
Yepyep... Just REALLY not my cup of tea. xD
Your right about the diversity of the game though: It is entirely rock, so it slightly comes off as a little bit bland to me. Pop'n has pretty much every genre of music, including some rock itself, and different genres of rock inside that.... ^o^ (Tee hee.)
I just don't think it'll happen at all. Not in this lifetime or the next. Pop'n music is just too japanese for americans. Closeminded, idiot americans could never appreciate this little treasure.
I'm not going to complain. I'd never want to see pop'n music diminished for any reason whatsoever. I just find it weird that DDR would become popular here, and no other bemani would.
I guess we'll just have to settle for playing a niche game. For me I got hooked on pop'n music because of the interface and the music. It was just so kawaii that I had to get it, but I still play in order to develope my 1337 skills so I can play 39s and 40s well.
I find it a shame that a lot of factors doomed pop'n's American release, regardless if it were the image perceived, the song list, or the language barrier, among other things.
I also find it hard to believe that Konami didn't even consider these songs when it did the failed American test dummy:
you know what I think it is if Bemani puts songs from artists that the americans like you know Gwen stefani flyleaf(my fav), evanescence, U2, etc.
the game will be the same just differen't music
With Pop'n that could be VERY tricky, but.... I see your point. :/
(The artists in Japan would have to be specially commisioned to do extra stages programmed into the game with American music.)
As with games without the characters, I guess it wouldnt be too hard. But would it ruin the original beauty of the unaltered game..? It could be kind of degrading.
Wait, maybe they could make like a special attachment (like a disc or something) thats seperate you could stick to the original game. That would be less-hard to create.
A new machine is around 10k USD. You'd think there's enough people in EACH the states playing to warrant it ported over? People kept referring to their own peer groups as reference when talking about things like this, what doesn't hit them is that their own peers usually share the same interests as the person themself. That's why the sample space is convoluted and misrepresented. I see some people play Ez2dj and Popn in my local arcade that justifies it's existance, but I see MUCH MORE people playing other games like Initial D or without having to be introduced to the series and shown how to play that proves those games to be a viable investment on amusement providers' part.
The reason old styled beatgames aren't received very well is the low amount of correct rewards to the players other than sastifaction of achievements. Newer beatgames like Lumines and Rez are quick to reward players when they're playing well (Multipliers, progression in level etc). There was never a golden age for beatgames even in Japan or Korea, and now the trend for beatgames is actually moving away from these traditional beatgames. Ask Konami to port Popn over? Even if it doesn't cost money on Konami's part, they prolly won't even do it because they should be moving forward.
Um, If someone bought a Pop'n music for 10k, it would be paid off within 6 months, because i would play it at least 200 times a week. AT LEAST.
plus all my friends that play with me,
and anyone who likes music games that are willing to play something with kick a** songs.
