This thing is kind of like the anime themes that just involve copying anime art over stuff, except with my theme as a base instead of the default.

Probably true if registration was actually locked. It isn't... yet. You're right though, if we can drive him to lock registration, that's sufficient because his forums are finished.

stepmania should have a theme compiler so no one would be able to access metrics, graphics, etc, I know every themer spend a lot of time and It's nor fair that someone else steal those months of work

Yep, and that was a really shitty thing to do. On the other hand, there are several differences here beside the one you pointed out.

1. I claimed that the changes were minimal (as they were) and that the theme was not my theme, but a mod of another. On the other hand, he claims that only 5-10% of the theme is still AOI[S]. Which is... well... judge for yourself.

2. I didn't take a permissions screen from a later version as justification for modding the theme. That's complete bullshit.

3. I didn't talk shit to the original authors when I got a C&D. I explained my end to the extent that it was justifiable (mostly, it wasn't), and as you said, dropped it.

I think that's sufficient to show a significant difference in attitude. Was it a fucktarded, assholish thing to do? Yes, and a lot of people yelled at me for it back then, and rightly so.

Do you want me to justify the unjustifiable, or are you just going to accept that I'm not quite the same as several years ago?

You can partially do this in SM4 (yes I have been the guy who says "you can do that in SM4" lately, I know).

well let's see, a lot of people appreciate Takuya for the level of quality in his themes. Let's be honest, know one would appreciate his themes, or him as a themer if they sucked. Then someone goes and makes a cheap mod of one of his. People who don't know it's not original will see Takuya's talent, and think it's whoever the person is that ripped it off. Even if they are caught later on, they will do two things:
A) Get popular, making the whole theme rip-off thing worthwhile, along with the 'punishment' that goes with it. and...
B) Open the floodgates for other amateurs to do the same thing, and get popular from it. If this kid gets away with stealing K//s theme, then why couldn't anyone else do the same. If we let this spiral out of control, there would be no point in continuing theming.
the point is, for the sake of the theming community, the themers, the fans, and hell, even the themes, we have to do something about this. At least set a precedent that you won't get away with this if you try, before they set a precedent that you can get away with it.

Long answer: He simply sets the forum settings, so he receives all of the account requests and chooses whether or not someone receives the activation in their email. This way if he sees a familiar email address or screen name, he can block them from joining his site.

Short answer: He doesn't anyways.
