Is it possible to display a sized down version of the 640x480 BG image of a song during song selection, instead of the banner?
I mean, in the place of the banner, maybe making a larger frame for the image that would go there.
I'm not too worried about it showing a video, just an image.  | |

I might have seen something like that in a SM PIU theme, but that might be because of the banner actually being BG size. I don't think it's possible without having to change every single file's banner.
That said, you can do it in the Song Loading screen (the one between Slect Music and the actual gameplay).
You just need to meddle around with the metrics there. I'll give it a shot tonight on my theme, now that I think about it.

It's easy on the Stage screen, but not what the guy wants.
I know I've seen something like this in other people's mockups, but I don't recall it actually being done. If you can find a way to display the selected song's BG, then getting rid of the banner is easy since you can just use hidden,1 on it.
I'm sure someone knows more about this one than I do.

You might have been thinking of Mungyodance, but in that the banners were bg size anyway...still, it could happen in 4.0. You never really know until it's there.

In MGD the banner it's simply a sized down copy of the BG, but isn't the BG itself.

I'm not all that savvy when it comes to theming, and i'm not too familiar with it either. I've only got the REAL basics down.
Even for just the default theme, if someone can figure out how to get the BG image of the song to display instead of the banner during song selection, that would be great.
If not... well, I appreciate the effort.  | |

Well Its not impossible but it is just impossible to have it update like the banner. It would have the default background image until you refreshed the screen (go to options and come back for example). So realtime background on songselect is impossible w/o source hacks. | |

Hello everyone.
I have a question:
Normally in newer versions when you do a jump in DDR, combo counts as 1 step. But in stepmania, in all themes, including the greatest Takuya DDRSN theme, combo counts as 2 steps like old DDR.
I want, when i press 2 arrows simultaneously, combo count it only as 1 step. is this possible to do in the metrics ?

The game system is programmed in that way... if you want SM3.9 that custom, the only way is via source code hack.... sorry ...
