Default Starting out

Hey guys/girls,

I am completely new to the theming scene, and I have some questions about metrics.ini and modifying the default theme that comes with stepmania.

Obviously, the questions I am about to ask would have been asked a million times before, but I am unsure on where to look for an 'elaboration?' of the metrics file, if there is such a resource, could someone please point me in the direction of it.. thanks

but if there isn't...

I have seen many themes and only a select few of them display using textures that utilise the full capability of standard LCD monitors using a 1280x1024 resolution. I am interested in making a theme that displays perfectly on an LCD running 1280x1024.

To the nitty-gritty: As I am starting out with the default metrics from the default theme of stepmania, I need to find out how to change the metrics file to display (eg. the ScreenLogo Background) at 1280x1024 when stepmania is running at that resolution. At the moment, I have a 1280x1024 png saved as the ScreenLogo Background but when I enter stepmania, it resizes the png file. What should I change in metrics.ini to stop this happening.

Sorry for the elementary question.. everyone has to start somewhere, right?

Default Update..

I have managed to get some images displaying at their correct resolution by fiddling with the BGAnimation.ini file in their respective folders, but I have got to graphics that do NOT have a BGAnimations.ini file, and they still zoom and pixellate on screen. Any ideas?

The file I am trying to get displaying correctly is 'ScreenLogo dance (dithered).png'. I don't want it zoomed in the game, i want it to display normally with no stretching.

Any Ideas guys?
