[THEME] Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix.

Well. I decided to come back into theming after the 5th mix theme, and made 2 DDR themes based on the arcade. I took 3 years off of theming DDR because I am in school + work, and decided to theme arcade based themes on my free time.

These themes are for Stepmania 3.9 so they are not anywhere perfect to the Arcade. I have minimal experience in C++ Programming so there won't be any custom builds for the 4th, and 5th Mix theme anytime soon.

Known Problems:
You can't get into the Select Group Screen. will be fixed in the next release.

There won't be multiple releases like the 5th mix theme, so the next release will expected to have more fixes. This theme is at least 60% accurate, but not anywhere close.

You're still alive? Awesome! I should try forcing your hand into SM4 theming so you can get this perfected (see this thread)

Currently at college now, but when I get home I'll check this out.

This is pretty awesome.

If you're not planning on trying to make it 100% accurrate, may I suggest a couple things that would make the theme a lot neater?

Also, even if you aren't, I would reccommend vectoring up the text and things on the Gameplay screen so it's not so blocky and pixely.

Part of the idea of a recreation theme is to recreate it as accurately as possible. That means blocky pixely shit.

Maybe a 4th Plus (but not called 4th Plus since that exists) would fix that.

Well he said "arcade based" and not "arcade recreation" though.

Yes. SM4 is so awesome that you supported the banner wheel. Thats what I always wanted. I might try working on the 4th , 4th plus, and 5th mix theme for SM4. There are so many things that I wanted to do to those themes that I couldn't do on 3.9. maybe for custom builds we could have the songwheel images in the song folder like in Beware's DDR Extreme.

Actually you can probably do the card images without a custom build. I know you can do the Long Version tag without it.

I've also just been playing around with this and decided to grab the 4th Mix announcer and change to Takuya's 3rd and 5th Mix arrows.

Put simply: the whole package is pretty damn awesome. Like a real step down memory lane with all the original pixeliness included.

I must state now though that I've never played the original 4th Mix as we Europeans got it in the form of Dancing Stage Party EDiTiON for the PS1, but what I remember from that game this reminds me of it quite a lot even with the songwheel limitations.

Congratulations on such a great theme! I can't wait to see what SM 4.0 theming will allow you to do with it next.

I have yet to learn LUA for SM 4.0. Its going to be a while for a 2nd Release.

I'm always around if you need any help/mentoring. However, I don't suggest getting into it until the new default theme comes into play, since that will change everything.

Okay, I finally ran through this.

1) Way too many uneven frame dimensions.

2) Marvelous didn't look too good so I decided to fix it up. The letter shapes were fine, but the colors were uneven. Dunno if this is how you intended it or what, but I changed it anyways.

Other than these, I was pretty impressed with it. The last 4th mix theme was made way long ago by Kitsune Sniper and I don't really remember it at the moment.

One question (because I lack adequate theming knowledge) is there no way of altering the movement of the life bar from the default up and down? I ask because it's the only thing glaringly wrong when playing a song (other than the step ratings I mean). And once it's full it sort of just goes whitish rather than flashing like I remember in DS Party Edition.

And in regards to my comment on moving this over to SM4.0 I meant in a few years or something, not like next week or even in a few months. I suspect 4.0 would allow this theme to look much better and more official but I understand that themers will take a good while to get used to LUA to get the most out of the new build.
