Marketplace Rating: 0 | [theme] [stepmania 3.9] selling out made simple [wip] Hello there Bemanistyle!
I'm a newcomer to this theming thing, but I've tried my hardest at making a theme, giving myself a two week time limit to complete it in.
Keep in mind, this first version is a Public Pre-alpha, so things like Gameplay and Evaluation aren't done yet, but a lot of the frontend (Title Menu, Select Style, Difficulty, Music) is done already. Screenshots
And the download: http://sera.anonimo.googlepages.com/...70815_2228.rar
Enjoy and give feedback, be it good or bad. I'm wanting to learn this craft so I need all the help I can get.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | I've been watching your progress through stuff AJ tosses me, and for a newcomer's work I'm extremely impressed. With additional polish, I think this is definitely going to get somewhere.
Stuff like this makes me feel hopeful about the community again.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | Last time I checked Sera wasn't commenting on the name, but I'm curious about this also.
EDIT: A couple quick thoughts. First off, the most jarring thing here is the fonts, they feel somewhat aliased and I'm not entirely certain why. I suppose you wouldn't have saved them in Indexed Color, so maybe it's just because of how thin they are? Lowering the contrast a little (perhaps by decreasing the stroke opacity) might help.
As for the timer, perhaps make the white orb in the middle grow and shrink as the number bobs up and down? That'd look really badass. The circle is slanted a little too hard and shows a lot of pixels as a result, you might want to blur it somewhat to mask the issue.
In general I feel like the contrast is a little too high and the resulting effect is a tad unnatural. It'd require a lot of work to fix that, though, so maybe just look into it for the next of your trilogy.
But as I said, overall, I'm very impressed, especially given that this is a first effort. Keep it up, I'm expecting good things.
EDIT2: The layout of the SelectMusic screen is spookily like that of XII, but I'm pretty sure you hadn't seen that, so it's just awesome coincidence.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | 1) I'll talk about the name in March 2008 or when the series ends (whichever comes first).
2) Nothing is saved in index color. Please give examples of what's looking odd so I can explain what I did with the graphics.
3) as it stands now, the timer is pretty much two parts, the foreground (black bars and orb at the same time) and the background (green spinny thing).
the pixels are something I noticed once then forgot about; I never got around to fixing them.
4) Yes, this was a coincidence. I had toyed with an alternate layout, with the player options below the DifficultyList, but then I forgot about the score display and reverted it to a minimalia-style display.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | 2. I figured as much. I'm talking about the header text that spends most of its time being in the upper left. From the way it looks, I'd say that it's rendered in-game as opposed to in Photoshop.
3. Yeah, so if you make the orb a separate layer, you have an opportunity for a cool effect... that's what I meant, sorry for being unclear.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | 2) Yes, I use actors for the headers. I used to use Kozuka Gothic for the headers, but switched over to Futura Book. I'm going to experiment with the other faces in the family, and if they don't work out either, I'll just go back to Kozuka.
3) Well, this could be possible in a future version then. I think I'm going to do different things with the timer in the other versions anyways though.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | bumping for a 99% done eval screen (also I AAA'ed a song, haha)
I still need to put the difficulty icons somewhere, and I've yet to make them as well, so...
(also I wanna try some fun stuff which I won't get into here)
At this point, it seems like all I have to do is fix up a few small things, work on Gameplay (all modes), test some non-event mode related screens, and it's done. Sadly, it's taking me more than two weeks I had planned for, but there was some down time so yeah.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | This is a lot brighter than the rest of the theme; is it just because it's an AAA?
