Themeing help!

Quick Story, I woke up one morning and realized how nobody made a theme based off of the PS2. So I decided to take it on myself!

Unfortunately 1/32nd through my work Stepmania crashed and I had to restart everything but the main menu.

Now I am reworking my theme, but there are some things that I am having trouble on.

- I already know how to fix the metrics so you can quit the game inside the system options, but I can't get Edit/Sync Songs and Jukebox to work the same way. It worked before, but failed after I restarted Stepmania to reload some metric fixes.

- This project is a little intense. I might need help from people by contributing their work in metrics or something.

Here's a preview of the only thing that I have working properly for sure. Just a couple of graphical changes that I need to remove quickly.

Hmm..inventive idea.

The best file format for vids is avi. Can't really think of a theme that uses any other (unless you count GIF animations).

AVI isn't a format per se, it's a container. StepMania can take a lot of what you can throw at it, but for maximum compatibility, I suggest DivX or XviD.

As for using it in a BGAnimation...

File=./whatever.avi
Type=1 // type 1 means stretch, so it should hopefully be what you're looking for.

Thanks a lot for the advice on the XviD thing. I was concerned that my .avi would be unnecessarily huge but 200-something KB isn't that bad at all (though my video quality is sub par).

That's my logo. It's actually very necessary, as I made that picture and that's how I identify myself with my work, and without it people can steal whatever I worked on (for some reason) and publish it as their own. Like SestrenNK's Apocalypse logo in the intro for Techno Fiend and Kojima's Kojima Productions Logo. That screen shot is part of a video. It's supposed to be the "Playstation 2" name, then a video effect, then the caution.

Its an interesting idea, but the ps2 browser is pretty minimal, and there really isnt enough there to base a whole theme off...

Yeah, that's my concern also. I'd like to see a mockup of remaining screens; while this is a pretty nifty concept, I don't know how it could run all the way.

The theme only has the logo, the main menu, and the caution screens PS2 related. Everything else will be based off of it, meaning I will try to give it the same sort of theme/mood that everything the PS2 gave. You know what kind of theme I am talking about. Just look at their PS2 section of the website and how it has that sort of general look. And if you have one, look at the back of the PS2 box and even look at the specs at the back of every PS2 game. Now imagine that sort of theme, only in Stepmania form.

I am modifying a theme for myself, but am unsure on how to add in two things in particular:

1) I would like to show the NUMBER of feet right next to the feet meter on the Song Select screen.
For example: DIFFICULT: 7 (f)(f)(f)(f)(f)(f)(f)( )( )( )

2) I would like to show the number of steps in the current song that is highlighted on the Song Select screen.

If someone could at least point me in the right direction for where I need to edit (beit a picture or in the metrics.ini file), I'd be most thankful

SCREENSHOT: ( *NOTE* What you see in RED is what I would LIKE TO DO, I just put that in with PAINT, and I would of course like to match the colouring (and not make it all red!)

Having the number of feet display is easy, and it occurs in all recent PROJEKT themes, which you can refer to if stuck. Number of steps is done with PaneDisplay, IIRC, which you can look at AJ's System Zero for.
