Finally I have good news for you...

DDR SuperNOVA2 WIP
- Screen tittle almost finished.
- Summary screen for battle must be finalized.
- Everything else is 100% done.


So, I need some extra info for.....
ONLY COURSES AND BATTLE results and summary screens.

- Result Screen:
*** Courses and Battle: Does appear the phrase Perfect full combo?
*** Courses and Battle: Does appear the full combo ring?

- Summary Screen Battle:
*** This screen looks like the normal results or like the battle results?
*** does appear grades, full combo ring and perfect full combo phrase?

Takuya, is there any specific announcer you use for your extreme theme? My announcer refuses to say anything on the Select Style screen, and it doesn't say "Are you Ready?" either. I don't know what happened when I moved, but it worked before and now it won't. I did an uninstall and reinstall of SM and all noteskins, themes, and announcers, and it still won't say those things. I downloaded the Extreme (Japan) announcer from Stepmaniathings.com. Is my computer just being weird?

EDIT: Takuya, it's just your theme. When I switch to the default theme, the announcer says "Select a Style" and "Single Play" just fine when I go there. Are there any metrics that I can change to make it work with your theme?

DDRMAX2 and Extreme don't uses either select style nor select difficulty screens... instead I use screen select master for both of them, so if you want to hear something, then you must need to edit the announcer to match select master announcer tags for both screens.
If you're thinking that is too much work, then I inform you that the idea of changing the metrics is impossible, without re-make from scratch both screens.
My advice, search for an extreme announcer that match those screens.
About other missed sounds on the game.... I really have no clue, but I assure you that isn't the theme problem, it's just announcer compatibility. I should make one, but because lack of time that development still stays on the design table.
I repeat.... my new themes are incompatible with most of the available announcers.

PD:
I'm still waiting for an answer about SN2 WIP stuff.

Okay, I found the "Are you Ready" sound. So the theme will look in ScreenSelectMaster instead of Select Style? But it still says "Select Difficulty" but it doesn't say "Select a Style." Thanks for the help, I'll keep experimenting.

EDIT: By looking in the Metrics, I can tell that Select Style and Select Difficulty are both in ScreenSelectMaster, because the PrevScreen is ScreenTitleMenu and the Next Screens are Instructions (normal/nonstop/oni). But in the metrics, I also see things that say IconPart3ChoiceSTANDARDY and etc. while I don't see anything similar to "IconPart3ChoiceSINGLEY" (or VERSUS or DOUBLE). So I can tell that both Select Style and Difficulty are both under ScreenSelectMaster, but I can only seem to access the Select Difficulty Screen, the Select Style Screen seems non-existant under ScreenSelectMaster. I'm not a themer so this all is kind of confusing for me.

I also tried renaming "select style comment single/versus/double" files in the announcer to "ScreenSelectMaster comment single/versus/double" and it still didn't do anything.

I know having the announcer say "Select a Style" is not a big deal, but sometimes little things like those just bother people, right?

EDIT2: Okay, I figured out the SSStyle section controlled the select style screen. I looked in the graphics folder and the single, versus, and double icons were named choiceA, B, and C. So I named the files, SSStyle intro, SSStyle comment A, SSStyle comment B, and SSStyle comment C, and it worked! Takuya, I hope you didn't feel like I was wrongly criticizing your theme metrics, if you thought so I'm sorry. If you guys don't get what I did I'll upload the modified announcer.

Question

This is for AJ and all the people tha have technical knowledge about SM4.0.
I want to know if there are too many differences when theming through SM4.0 cvs releases... that's because several times during SM3.9 Alpha development certain emblematic releases when they was upgraded to the next one, all supported themes becomes obsolete without any backward compatibility level.... that's why some old themes are still in SM3.9 Alpha phase.

All of this is because no one likes to re writte an entire theme from one version to other.... but I assume that the theming system is in development, so changes are necesary.... but I'm affraid that those changes could be massive from one version to other.

I really like to start theming for 4.0.... leaving 3.9 world behind. Knowing that 4.0 isn't stable, but it's the future.... more like theming for 3.95 or beware's 3.9 mod build.

I need your advice....

Wait for the next build, things have changed a hell of a lot between 1-3-2008 and what's in SVN now (yes, we switched version control systems from CVS to SVN).

One of these changes is the removal of a number of items used in [MusicWheel]: ItemCurveX, NoCurving, ItemSpacingY, Wheel3DRadius, CirclePercent, Use3D.

Wheel Transforms are now done in Lua. Chris has been VERY VERY nice and given us a comment on how to do linear wheels and 3D wheels with this new system.

Linear Wheel=function(self,positionIndex,itemIndex,numIte ms) self:y(positionIndex*38); end

Curved Wheel seen in new SM4 default theme=function(self,positionIndex,itemIndex,numIte ms) self:x( (1-math.cos(positionIndex/math.pi))*44 ); self:y( positionIndex*38 ); end

There's likely to be a lot more changes coming soon as well.

So in summary, some changes are big (MusicWheel transforms), others are small (shadowlengthx, shadowlengthy, and shadowcolor; scrollbar having separate tick thumb and stretch thumb elements) but helpful.

If you're set on coding it once, you may have to wait a while for a suitable version. I highly suggest making a testbed theme to mess around with ideas, concepts, and stuff like that. Once you get familiar with things, it'll only be the changes that affect you. If the default theme was closer to completion, I'd be glad to send you a copy of the latest build and the theme (for use in figuring out what fallbacks are good), but it's not.

I've found something different in SuperNOVA 2 that can't be set in the Metrics; Show NG in the Evaluation screen. You know that, right, Takuya?

Source codes, perhaps? Beware did his custom build, so why can't you make a build optimized for your SN2 theme?
