what the heck with saying 3.9 themes won't work for 4.0

ok, my 3.9 model got messed up, so i got 4.0 and treansfred EVERYTHING i had to it, including my themes, and the themes still work, so i'm wondering why you ppl are saying 3.9 themes wont work on 4.0, mine did

Try my theme. It wont work. I just tryed. It works with 3.9 but not 4.0.

Strange considering that the theming engine is different, and therefore it isn't even supposed to work at all.

Perhaps you transferred a few more files than you realize.

well, if you did some work on the itg2 theme (I'm assuming groove 2.2), then sure that could work.

okay I'm going to try every other theme you posted and see if they work. this post will be edited.
You'll need to be more specific about DDRMAX2 (SMMAX2 or Takuya's?) and Ultramix (mine, Katze's, or Ultramix Plus?).

Testing with CVS obtained from 7/10/06 at 22:25 Central (10:25 pm in 12 hour time)

As soon as I exit from the options menu after changing the theme, it crashes.

testing this, unknown version
Switched, exited options. This actually got to the title menu but I couldn't see anything.
Went back to ScreenCompany and crashed. Turns out it was an error in the theme.
Fixed and restarted.
Was able to get to the Difficulty screen but it crashed after that. Currently this theme works the best out of the ones I've tested.

Something else I thought of:
Check for crashinfo.txt and look for the compile date.
