[WIP][SM][THEME]Renaissance (No, really.)

First thing's first: O.N.I. IS DEAD.

Yes, that's right. There will be no O.N.I. 4 (not counting the piss-take by AJ 187: that was more like O.N.I. 3.5 anyway. On a different note, I'm actually starting to see the funny side of it...)

It's not hard to, but forget O.N.I ever happened. This is my attempt to start afresh. I will actually put some modicum of effort into this thing. This means I'm not going to recycle DDR music for the menus (but maybe I'll take cuts of them as sound effects, you never know...), and (God forbid) I might actually take criticism this time!!

I will start work on this after my exams are finished on the 21st of June, maybe a bit earlier if I have time during weekends. This means you'll get first (by no means final, this isn't O.N.I. 1 we're talking about) draft screens around the 23rd-29th of June. Any times after that, I'll decide in future.

First Ideas

I'm thinking of doing a 'blue' theme. I've done a basic background of what I would like here:

As you can see, it's quite minimal. Firstly, NO MORE moving backgrounds (that was a really experimental time...). Secondly, there is the picture of Emi there. It just enhances the background a bit. She won't be in every single graphic. Also, she's deliberately behind the song wheel, so you can only actually see her when you change songs, and even then only narrow strips moving upwards/downwards. I like that effect, but that's me...

Also, I'm thinking of making the top header (stage select, etc.) a moving one using a layer BGAnimation, leaving the timer where it is, but that is far from likely to be happening.

My main goal here is to try and create a nice (damn, I hate that word) theme, like Ultramix but less in-your-face, that I can be proud of and can show it without getting the piss taken. If I can do that, I might actually try something more difficult next time...
So, if anyone wants to comment, do it. I'll try to answer your questions as soon as possible and without any unnecessary guff.

Yeah, within the first 11.5 seconds, I wanted to kill you. Then I started playing the theme.

Still, I'm going to really try not to plaster Emi on every single page...also, I've updated it a bit, so the image has none of the weird black bits. Emi's now NOT being eaten by a tarantula on the throat.

IMO, I would try to stay away from using a well known character as the focal point of any bg...and a well thought out BG is better after you know where the screen elements will go as well. But yes, good luck sir.

Like I said, it's WIP. It probably will be changed about 40 times...it's too minimal I think...

I've done a basic idea of how I want the theme to look. Well, I've done a few graphics, meddled with the metrics, but nothing too drastic...
