I 100% agree with you on the fun factor. In Bracket 1, I gave a file I hated a 90 because it's a solid file.

And if you want to complain about the tilt section, once again, I didn't invent it.

Well, I was going to edit my first post, but after 2 pages of you know what, I think it's appropriate to post now. Just want to say congratulations to Xythar and Lilina for the invitiation to judge OSC 6. You 2 clearly had the strongest reviews for both of the brackets. Now I wonder if I made a second review, with the same 4 post length qulity from B1, for B2, would I have been invited too?

EDIT: I just noticed Lilina did a PR only for B2.

woah... rank 4 really surprised me (although rank 7 by counting public reviews only) - thanks everyone for enjoying my entry! (even though the hard steps isn't exactly favorable to the public)

And by the way,

URLDURLDURLD has no double steps. You mean URDLURDLURDL (spins) or URDLRDLUDLRU?

WHOA! DRAMA!

Can we just appriciate this contest for what it truly is made for?
Having fun and helping people improve.

To me, I don't care who wins or loses and whether or not I make it to the top or not. I care about how everyone gets together to submit simfiles massively and add more sims to my collection. A song may not be the best to me, but I'd still enjoy it somehow.

If you don't win, don't worry about it. You may have made someone happy with your sim... hopefully...

I'm wondering why you are all getting upset over an online contest. There were newcomers to this contest who might not come back because of this horrible drama and dumb rating rant. I mean, when a review says "This file sucks." without a valid reason, it makes the user feel bad. If it was said as "This file could use a lot of improvement." and actually gave helpful advice as to fix it up to be better, then it would make the user feel more confident for the next contest and make him/her not worry about feeling horrible.

Can't we just have fun with this? Can't we just forget about the judging for a minute? The judging is just to see which file is a crowd favorite, not to see who wins. Besides, your not winning anything, right? WHY FIGHT OVER IT!?

Most of this will probably not make since, but I sometimes have a tough time saying what I want to say...

I say the next contest, everyone judges, then the users fix up the simfiles as much as possible from the suggestions, then it all gets released as a huge simfile pack that has all good quality sims. The only thing the judging would do is see whose file ranks up as being "good quality" from the start and not needing improvement...

I have no idea what I was on when I wrote that. Yes, I meant to type out a spin pattern such as you described.

(This is in my pre-comment comments for those who didn't recognize it)

Whoa, I didn't have bad intentions with my post... I just thought your judging was weird. I respect your opinion. I don't see why you had to respond to me in such a hostile matter. Maybe what I said came out totally wrong? Probably, sorry... I was just saying things of how I saw it, it's not like a stated what I said as a fact. I just thought it was weird that you usually agreed with PlatinumHawke and the public but then had such a large difference of opinion.

Although I don't take back what I said about you calling too many songs generic... Especially because you did step Heaven Is A Place On Earth for Tournamix 6.

If that's the case, then why did I bother giving up a good part of my time to actually judge both rounds, especially after sitting through what happened in Bracket 1 which killed a good portion of my actual interest in actually *finishing* this set. Hearing that Zounder was the only judge is probably the only thing that made me get up and do this.

Honestly, is this a case of "I think Zounder isn't that good of a judge," or is it a case of "OMG ZOUndER DOESN'T TINK LIKE ME," because it's looking alot like the latter. Just look at this, almost three pages of harping on someone over what? A freaking step contest, where most of you are pushing buttons on your keyboard? Jesus, half of you need to check your egos at the door before you get online.

As for Zounder's comments on the genericness of alot of the songs in this bracket... He is right to a pretty good degree. Outside of two entries, that's Wowowee and Tunak Tunak Tun, just about every song to some degree can be considered generic, and in alot of cases, just complete boring. And I say that as someone who entered a song that very well can be considered "boring, generic anime j-pop." And my scores reflect tthat, which makes me wonder why nobody has mentioned calling me off for that either.

Oh wait, scapegoat. Nevermind.

Has anyone even *started* to notice that big 60/60 I handed out to Wowowee without a single bit of hesitation? How about god knows how many entries I've literally *lifted* into the challenge round? Nope, not one word of that, just harp on the one judge and that'll clearly make everything better, right?

Just about everyone in this thread, meet this post. I'm done with this thankless crap and the OSC5-turned-TM7.

As I said, I didn't have such bad intentions as everybody thinks I did... I thought his difference of opinion with everybody else on Inspiration was weird, but I respect his judging (other than the whole every single song is generic techno which is just ignorant, sorry.) But I really think I should have the right to expect you to explain your judging? I saw people get mad at public reviews for not explaining during the keyboard bracket, I think. Why are you above them? How can people improve their files without any real comments from you? I have no clue if you're a good judge or not because you have absolutely no reasoning for your judging. Uh, sorry???

rageatm005: maybe we should have anonymous judges

But in any case-- I've gotta say thanks. This is the first time I've been first in anything simfile related, and I wasn't expecting it.

How would -you- respond if you spent hours on ened judging simfiles to have someone say "I think you played favorites and boosted a score because it was your favorite"?

Quote:

Sometimes those things just happen. I don't see why this fact warrants an accusation of padding scores.

When did I ever say HIAPOE wasnt generic? I fully admit that it's a very generic choice. Just because a song is generic doesn't mean it cant be stepped well. That's why creativity is only worth 4 out of 100 points. I don't see your point at all here.

But whatever, if your intentions weren't bad then it's cool.

Anyway, I'm with PlatinumHawke on this one. I'm getting sick and tired of all this.

EDIT:

Quote:

You know, I dffered on many other songs with other judges besides Inspiration. go look at my Go Berzerk score. Also, other judges differed just as much as I did on some songs as well, so this logic is faulty.

Do I need to quote myself from earlier in this thread?

Yeah, I think I'm done commenting on this because I'm sure I'm already losing my chance of winning this by all these comments. I'll just say this:
I didn't mean to cause so much drama, and a lot of the things I said came out so much more harsh than I meant them to. I'm sorry to everybody I offended. I respect everybody's opinion, because that makes us who we are. I understand not everybody has the same opinion as me, and I understand that everything I said was just dumb. I should have just said nothing. So, I apologize. Congrats to everybody, you all deserved it. I'm happy with the results, and I realize one score I don't agree with hardly even matters.

I realize this is pretty much all my fault, so I'm trying to end this.

I'm stupid.

I'm terrible with words.

Sorry.

Let's move on!

Is this such a farfetched opinion?
It would be farfetched if you were from the Philippines, since here, its very, very generic. Want a translation of the lyrics?

@will-i-am: Probably, and if you really tried to dig deep into each file, playing just about all of its charts. The chances will be a lot higher.

The lyrics are pretty lame, yeah.

And I'd agree with you on the generic part except that I've been through about 70 novelty Filipino songs and my God I have heard some of the most generic stuff ever, so I'm going to have to actually disagree with you on that. (Trust me, the "NOVELTY SUPER HITS SET" isn't at all "super.") I'd go with Don Romantiko or Pamela (or ANYTHING that involves Vhong Navarro) for something really generic. (Of course since I don't at all come close to fully understanding Filipino I don't usually know how generic the lyrics are...) Actually with Lito Camo you don't have to go too far to look. All his songs have the same odd form in the chorus. And this song is by Lito Camo, so I can see where the "generic" comes from (also ABS-CBN promotes everything they do 24/7)

@Juub: Yes. The chorus tends to have an increasing pitch in rhythm, and they usually go by a similar progression in the style of the lyrics. In addition, you'll hear the song title somewhere in the chorus just about every time.
