They look bigger than they are when you include a background instead of making the title have a transparent background. I'm not a big fan of CD titles that are just big squares, especially if they have their own backgrounds that simply end abruptly when they reach the edge of the square, although speaking on relative terms yours wasn't as big as some of the others in the contest.

The biggest height in the DDRUK pack is 45 pixels as far as I can tell... and yours is like 70 x 70.

I... don't know what that means.

And my score is pretty well borked by now, so I don't care too much about that.

The thing with too many freeze arrows is it artificially eases the scoring of the song. Furthermore, when having them there doesn't really change the way you play, you probably don't need them. This is not a universal rule, but it is the basis of my condemnation of "short freezes".

What Xythar said. It looks physically larger than many others, at any rate (but it also wasn't the largest). Either way, it still counts as an extra, it's just a note for later. Drop the square in the back.

Just as any computer scientist should know assembly for the theory even if they never have to use it, a good step artist should know one of the underlying representations, if only for discussion purposes. SM format is too verbose when mines aren't involved so DWI is still good for this. I use Xs to indicate that I'm talking about rhythm and patterning. Note that I would never advocate hand-writing steps (although it is easier to do some BPM gimmicks in Notepad).

Woot! Hooray for having the second largest cd-title in the competiton! Mine was only a bit smaller than Tunak Tunak Tun's. To tell the truth, when I made this, I really had no idea how bit a cd-title was supposed to be. So then I ended up having it to be 75 x 75 pixles. Ooops. Sorry for that.

the default theme doesn't take kindly to 640x480 backgrounds so when you put text way over onto a side it gets cut off

He means the 4th-16th-8th rhythms.

Yeah, I get that now. Talk to me in beats, not this programming stuff, I got out of that for a reason. (Although I really loved my one assembly class...)

Anyway, I can see how you might interpret it that way. I think it would be a valid rhythm to follow, but, to my ears at least, she's singing twelfth notes.

It's no more "programming" than HTML is. That was an analogy. It's still really useful to know because it's a lot more concise than "three notes each three-sixteenths apart, then repeat at the next quarter beat" or any other attempt to describe it in words. However, I have now defeated my own point.

I don't think I've ever taken more than 30 minutes to complete a stepchart except for more complex doubles charts.

It varies a lot for me. When doing one of the base DDR genres a heavy/challenge chart can write itself in 30-45 minutes depending on my familiarity with the song. Less common stuff and rhythmically complex parts take longer, like the changeup in A New Ray of Light. An extreme case of this is something top secret that I've put 20+ hours into over the last four months. It is truly a grade of evil that could only be developed with surgical precision.

Charts get quicker as they go down, and Doubles takes twice as long since it's more thought and I get lost on the keypad.

OK, I'm revising my earlier guess because this just came to me: I'm now 90% sure that Doctor_Mango is lrxevan. Why?

1) Simfile feels nDDRo, as people have noted
2) jammitch!'s public review, which made several statements that can apply to lrxevan
3) jammitch! also mentioned somewhere that Inspiration didn't have doubles steps but that the creator had made doubles steps before. Love Somebody For Life had doubles steps, but none of Titiln's entries that I have here (which admittedly isn't too many, but still...) have doubles steps.
4) jammitch! seems to know him, and I assume jammitch! knows lrxevan because of Grip
5) .ogg music format. lrxevan also used .ogg for Love Somebody for Life and POP.
6) he's been around here a lot, so I'm guessing he's involved in this more than your average onlooker would be

So yeah. Nice job on the file incidentally, although I wouldn't really have expected any less

edit: whoa he did Redraw Lots in TM5 too, I didn't notice that until now
