Can someone calculate the Top 5 based on Public Review? I'm too lazy/math retarded.

Actually, I had before, but I got rid of my calculations when I was sure I had won PR.

Jump
Startin'
Emerald Sword
Namida Girl
Bad Boy (AvM)

Emerald Sword and Namida Girl might be switched, but the rest I'm fairly certain are correct. I'm pretty sure Breathe and Bad Boy will be bumped up when the judges get their reviews in. At least I hope, because IMHO, I don't think Emerald Sword and Namida Girl deserve to be where they are.

I liked Emerald Sword, not necesarrily Single Expert, but the rest was pretty good. Namida Girl was alright but not Top5 quality.

Don't count on it.

As a side note, Breathe was good until I noticed that the entire second chorus was the first chorus mirrored (except on light where it was shuffled instead). How lazy. Same tick is fine, but PLEASE change the patterns.

EDIT: don't take these as official.

I apologize for the delays in scoring this bracket... They're basically my fault, I'm experiencing nastier andnastier delays in getting this done. See why I said I'm pulling out of the DDR brackets?

EDIT: I'm checking what judges sent their results in and I'm going to build a tentative results sheet for now. Stepmania just crashed for the fifth time in a row, the second on trying to use 3.9. I'm not sure what, exactly, is wrong, but I'm running virus scan and Ad-Aware on that box as we speak, just in case. Needless to say I'm in a very bad mood about this.

DOUBLE EDIT: Also, I have two judges in. The rate of judges flaking out is exceptionally annoying, and I pray that the DDR groups get it together, since as I've stated I'm not judging those. x_X;

In my opinion, Breathe was definitely the most realistically ITG-ish simfile of the whole division. The graphics were first-class and looked exactly like something that would appear in an official mix, and the steps are among the best in the pack. Oh, and the song choice is also fabulous for the game. Other people seemed to prefer stuff like Emerald Sword, Startin', and Jump more, but Breathe is really the only one that I think could truly be in ITG.

I was one of the only people with a song that was actually by an ITG artist, along with Machinae Supremacy's Multiball. There was supposed to be Take Me Back by KaW, but that got replaced by Breathe. Someone also planned to enter a Dust Devil song, but then never uploaded it. There was even supposed to be another Machinae Supremacy song, but it too never showed up. It's too bad, since I would've loved to play all of them. Instead, the ITG division was loaded with house songs with female vocals (Cheap Trick Kinda Girl and Kiss Me), J-Pop (Startin', Namida Girl), and even Bemani songs (Day Dreamer, Speedy Cat), all genres of which seem better suited for DDR instead of ITG.

Thanks. Even though the judge reviews were pretty hard on my file (IMO), I think the public review was enough to prove that it was a good file. Thanks infinity.

No problem. It always feels good to support underrated simfiles (your's deserved to make top 3, not 7th place, which although is good and a lot better than me, isn't enough for such a well-made entry).

I'm already making preparations for OSC 6's ITG bracket. I'm going to design a whole bunch of stepfiles and then eventually enter my favorite. I should at least make the Challenge round next time.

We may or may not use the Challenge Round system again next time, just so you are aware - we did not for OSC 4.

I'm going to state this once again for the record, disco, as this is the one thing I think you should come away with from this experience:

Your file would have done 10 points better from me if I didn't catch you copying and pasting. At least move the arrows around - individually, not by a transform (that alone would have gotten you the rest of the points), maybe even change the tick.

I think it would help your judging that people sometimes choose to C&P for reasons other than laziness. I don't know about you but I like repetition in a file. Specifically, the mirroring of the freezes in the second chorus was what I wanted. I don't see why just because it requires less effort it's considered a less admirable choice.

As for changing the tick, I follow the music. Sorry. I'm not going to arbitrarily add or remove notes where the music is exactly the same.

I wouldn't have suggested changing the tick in this one - that was a general statement. Sometimes you can leave stuff out early and build, and sometimes bridging gallops can be appropriate (I did that in Let's Go Dee Jay for the DGJ Invitational, which is probably not a stellar example).

As far as repetition in a file, yeah, the occasional symmetry can be nice, but 16 consecutive measures? At that BPM, that's like 25 seconds of stuff I've already done once. To me it screams lack of creativity (yes I know it's hard to be creative in four panels). If what you wanted to do was mirror the freezes you still could have changed the rest around it, even slightly. I will say that it stuck out like a sore thumb to me when judging - if it was such a good idea I probably wouldn't have noticed (because your file was quite fun otherwise).

As far as "helping my judging" I've been doing it for like three years now so I think my technique is fine (not so much early on, I'll admit), and my opinions on what is good aren't too likely to change any time soon. I suppose that was in response to my slightly heavily-worded post in the first place, so I won't take too much offense at that and apologize myself for the words (I stand by my judging though).

Fair enough. I'll try and stay away from excessive mirroring in the future.
