I wish I could. I just noticed that I can't find it -- it seems that when making the OSC edit, I forgot to do a backup copy of the file and overwrote the original one.

Oh well, you learn from your mistakes. I think I'll write a little shell script to automatically backup my music files right now. >_<

Just when I thought things couldn't get worse re: DDR OSC - lrxevan angering me more and more (p.s. lrxevan I got your PM to PlatinumHawke), jobs and other circumstances getting in the way of my completing judging - they do.

My desktop - the only computer in my house I will run Stepmania on because I don't want to ruin my laptop's keyboard - is now giving me incredible amounts of error messages. I'm not sure what I need to do, at all, which means I get to take it in to one of the local (decent) repair shops.

Needless to say, I am exceptionally livid and want to kill things right about now, and all DDR OSC results are indefinately delayed, because they were on - you guessed it - the problem computer.

Some run.dll crap-fest with windows. You know the usual fun stuff.

I still have my scores and what not, so the judges can send the their files to me and I can see what I can do about compiling the results... unless you did judging on the DDR side (I remember you withdrawing from the DDR divisions).

If it's just something popping up when you start Windows, you can try just clicking past enough to get to the desktop and then ignoring any more and getting into My Computer to copy the files you need out. Or, if your desktop is on a home network (or if you run a crossover cable between it and your laptop), you could try accessing it from your laptop and copying the files over that way.

Just a few suggestions in case you're able to get the data you need off before you send it off for repair.

I can click through and such, yes I'll be able to preserve the data... Except that there's a metric asston of data I'd need to preserve, not just for the competition. No, I can't just run Stepmania (running too slow) anyways. I'll be going to Computer Renaissance tomorrow (after speaking with my parents about it) to ask about the prices for getting reasonably prompt repairs or a fresh, large hard drive to preserve all my data in, or something. :/

I apologize for these negative circumstances.

Maybe you could google the error and find a fix for it? Or list it here?

...Or just take it to the repar shop.

I managed to get Stepmania into stable condition... For now. Had to remove 3.9 entirely and remove a bit of stuff from my hard drive, but ah well.

One minor note-to-self thing for next time: Make better excel spreadsheet. X_x

EDIT: *Clarification so as not to confuse* as in, put the comments and scores together in one spreadsheet per judge. To my way of thinking, that could help streamline things a bit.

At first, I hated Jammitch for rating my simfile lower than Satellite and Day Dreamer, as well as tying it with I Wanna Talk About Me, but now I'm glad he pointed out lots of flaws I had. I just made a completely revised version of my simfile in which I used his comments to improve it, and I'm now also more confident that I'll be able to do better in OSC 6.

Wait, you got rated lower than Days Dreamer?

...

I call bullshit on that. I don't care how good his criticism was.

Well, looking back on things, there really were a lot of awkward (I cannot count how many times he said that word in his review) patterns I used, such as those crossovers that required too much footwork, that made the steps seem overdone as he and Hamm stated. But he also took off lots of points for other things as well, such as the song (he called it boring and repetitive), the banner being a copy and paste version of the background, and stupid format issues like not having parentheses around Helix Mix for the folder, .old files, and "Copied from Copied f". Basically, he viewed the simfile at the least favorable opinion possible in all categories.

There are lots of highlights about my simfile, but there's also a great deal of awkwardness that caused a few people to find it to be mediocre.

EDIT: You know what, I really think it's stupid to take off lots of points for a banner just because it's a crop + paste version of the background (or especially when you actually move the text to a different place, as evidenced by Jammitch's Breathe review). Almost all of the official ITG banners are pretty much cropped versions of the banner. Just take a close look. I think it's absolutely fine to do that, and there is no reason we should lose points by doing it for our simfiles. It's not like the banner has to be as different from the background as they are with all the Hybrid songs from ITG 2.

That's what I meant by Jammitch being nitpicky. It's not just my file, it's a lot of them.

This is explicitly covered in the rules.

Similar is good, cut-and-paste is bad.

That's all tilt. As I said earlier, they're little things that, if you took 30 seconds to clean up before submitting, it'd show me that you scoured every last detail before submitting like I expect from competition-quality files. And no, I didn't take off any points for no parentheses. The folder was named A Voiec Spoke to Me.

I'd like to see one layer changed, at least. I give minimal points for minimal effort (as opposed to no points for no effort). Again, this is explicitly covered in the rules.

Someone has to be. That reminds me, in an effort to be less nitpicky, I haven't even brought up the name thing yet.
