How about the "Bemanistyle Extraordinary Simfile Tournament With A Long and Noticeably Unneccesary Title"? Then it would be the BEST WALNUT!

I'm not going to do any major docking outright for rolls but 1) I don't like having to use two different versions of SM (which is more a problem with their progress than anything) and 2) I haven't yet seen a decent use of them. The one time I found an ITG2 cabinet, I reached the same conclusion.
1) I agree. A lot.
2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iARo3Zyjtw

The other time I've seen rolls used well is in cases where it would make the chart horrendously uneven to not use them. Example: Renaissance expert/hard/medium. Especially expert, because if that part was just 24th note runs following the music, it would be a chart that was half-9, half-super stupid. I don't think the chart itself is good, but that's a decent example of using them in a simple song with one or two complex parts.

I hate July Euromix though. What the hell were they thinking?

alphabet55's most recent idea, BEST WALNUT, is a keeper.

I'm more in favour of names that aren't acronyms :P

'OSC' I always thought was a bit uninspiring and BEST WALNUT is just going to confuse people and/or have nobody take the competition seriously anymore. Tournamix had a good name, even if you didn't like anything else about it (although I did :/)

Geez guys, I wasn't trying to start a criticism of rolls, I was trying to say that both opinions are valid and one shouldn't have more weight than the other.

Current name concept:
Bemanistyle Step Meltdown Simfile Creation Contest

Though BEST WALNUT has it's merits...

Most likely, the immediately following competition will be called "DDR OSC 5+ ~Beta of the new generation~", since it's going to be a sideshow.

BSMSCC? That's not catchy...

Also, the "Step Meltdown" part scares me... What does that mean? No rules about stepcharts? No divide between pad and keyboard? Experimental steps made by people with way too much time on their hands and not enough common sense?

Sounds like Communism, I say.

"We" (OSC) never used that title, it was some other simfile competition here that didn't turn out good and only had one run.
