No, they are not always like this, and this is one of the first OSC's to have serious drama in it in a while.
OSC's will *Always* be open to any registered member of Bemanistyle.com, who has not been banned from the site.

Two main OSC's a year wouldn't be bad, and DDRExtreme.co.uk will have ones in between them I'm sure.

What makes OSC special is the judging, the organization (when it goes good and judges judge on time [as well as when I'm here]), and the, "It only happens once [possibly twice] a year" aspect.
I wouldn't mind twice a year, but IMO, any more would cause a total lack of proper judging - because judges don't have time like this 4 times a year, and they'd get burned out - and a decrease in overall participation. Right now, people look forward to the tournament.
If it were to happen 4 times a year, people will just say, "Oh I missed this one, I'll just catch the next one," instead of, "I actually better finish my entry."
