In fact, 90's Mix is coming up, so if you've got a song from the 90's you want to step, feel free to stop by and enter. This could well be their biggest competition yet, especially if more people than just the usual lot show up Song registration opens this weekend, I think. (If it's anything like the previous contests you'll be able to not only register a judged entry but also up to 5 nonjudged, and you can also keep them anonymous until the day the results come out if you want to add that extra element of fun as people try to guess who did your anonymous entries... :P)

I'll wait for a competition.

OR GO FIND ONE LOL

Actually, my one complain to this idea is you're looking for 'quality' steps. So where does that leave up-and-coming simfile makers whose steps aren't exactly quality yet? I'd rather get the feedback from judging.

No, don't worry about that; there's no real quality standard for entering DDRex contests. Just join the fun!

Yeah, that's fine. I still need to find a great song to step for the DDR bracket, anyway (I'm feeling comfortable with ITG though, as I basically already have my song chosen and stepped).

<.< Actually, I was talking about the upcoming thing that Neko was talking about. Granted, I realize it's still not finalized in the least.

Standards of quality tend to be fairly loose; plenty of steps that aren't BEST EVER ZOMFG would fit great into the mix. Again, this is a concept only.

As for the next OSC competition (though as BlueSS has noted, it may not be named OSC after the critical staff changes), I'm thinking summer '07. You know, when I have spare time to run it.

That sounds too far away for my likings. I'm not up for waiting an entire darned year before participating in another awesome OSC competition. Perhaps Spring of '07 instead? And if you'll be overworked by having it all during Spring, maybe another moderator could assist you in managing the tournament?

Well, you're waiting about 3 seasons, really, but Spring wouldn't be too far from reasonable either. Just keep in mind the clashes with academic endeavors.

Start it early, or at least let people upload sooner. If I remember, we were able to upload until the end of June, making the competition not really start until mid-July or so. If you let people upload earlier or at least get song listings sooner, then the competition probably won't be that long.

>_> Just a suggestion... maybe..

I suggest that he starts it whenever he wants to and whenever he is prepared. That way he can have a good life and we can have a good contest!

Why is everybody so impatient?

Perhaps it's simply because of their (and my) desire to give another shot at making an excellent simfile that stands a better chance at doing well overall. Experiencing DDR OSC for the first time ever has made me a lot more aware of what makes a simfile enjoyable, as I already feel like a better simfile designer than I did when I first submitted Samba Brazil. All that I need to do now is find a song to step for the DDR bracket that has the potential in completely hitting the ball way out of the park.

Okay... I see there is quite a ton of interest in a competition. I will be measuring my available time for a short New Year's mini-competition, possibly. Perhaps use that to test a new format idea or two.

Hi. Given the amount of interest there seems to be in having another simfile competition NOW NOW NOW, I thought it might be prudent to inform you all that the TGL Simfile Tourney has been open for submissions for quite some time now. The deadline was just recently extended from Sept 25 to Oct 14, which should give you all enough time to enter at least one bracket if you're not as lazy as I am.

Oh, how I wish Tournamix still existed. That would be perfect for keeping me busy while awaiting OSC 6. I never even got a chance to participate in one of those competitions since I didn't begin making true simfiles until somewhere early in 2006.

wow, you're funny.
Also in case you didn't know, TM happened once a year, summer - usually BEFORE OSC, so you wouldn't be busy with TM at all.
