Yes, back a few weeks before 6.0 turned to 7.0, I put into action an idea I had in mind for Stepmania. It was at it's core, an attempt to apply Wario Ware's gameplay to Stepmania's, with a series of randomly chosen, super short songs that eventually lead into a longer boss song. From there, the course would repeat itself with the super short songs, only becoming slightly faster with each consecutive clear. I released a pack of this sort made from about 16 Overclocked.org songs to rather average review. While it was seen as a good and novel idea, my decision to make the microsongs 2 measures each (averaging 5 seconds of music or less per song) was apparently to blame. After this fiasco (OSC5 that is), I believe I should give my idea another run though, because conventional ways are strangely a little too bothersome to me.
As for the second post about stringing them into one full length megamix, it's nice, but it would always be the same order and become predictable. Also, I'd have to cram 5 or 6 songs worth of graphics into a single banner and background and I'm fairly sure that wouldn't be too pretty. |
