Still, to me taking the time to make your own AMV to the song showed more effort than just taking the original video and re-encoding it. I gave him bonus points in my public review for that.

So far as I can tell, there's currently no posted deadline for registering. Is this still up in the air, due to the abrupt shift to 7.0, or have I simply not looked in the right place yet?

Registrations are open until the deadline for files being due.

I have 2 questions. For the two difficulties, would the entire song have to be different? I don't mean like u could use shuffle or something on a copy of the other difficulty, it's just some parts in songs there is seemingly nothing else to follow. Also, there is no DEFINITE penalty on song length, only if the judges feel it's inappropriate for the song or unnecessarily long, correct?

1) The two difficulty sets had better be different. If Heavy is simply Super Shuffled into Challenge, the judges are not going to like it, trust me. If a song only has one line to follow, there's probably multiple ways to follow it (i.e. if it's got sixteenth-pairs in a sequence, steps for the first of each pair only vs. both).

2) There is no clear penalty as long as it's within the defined limits, but excessive or insufficient length doesn't make the judges happy.

there are still different things to do in the part

I assure you, any song can have AT LEAST 3 sets of steps to it

some songs would be harder to write steps for than others, sure, but it can be done.

Call this a dumb question,
but do we need to upload it to bms in order to enter it?

No, it will probably be a separate OSC uploader, unless Keith can set up a special OSC uploader here.
The OSC files do not enter the simdatabase, unless you put them there.

You might want to emphasize that the files should not be in the database at all, ever, at least before the OSC is over. I even caught myself thinking the best way to get mine out to a beta tester would be to upload it to BMS...

Once the files are released in the brackets, they can be released elsewhere, although we encourage the downloading of the whole pack.

But most people haven't broken it, and if an accident happened we would take a fair look and see what to do.

Ok, this makes very little sense to me, why does the ITG division NOT require expert steps? And if I include them, will they not be judged?

Five words: House Of The Rising Sun.
Alternatively, Two Words: Axel F.

Both follow the other ITG norms well (Speed in the 'normal' range, 2 minutes, etc.) but do not have an Expert chart. (Further, HOTRS is my fve song from ITG1 XD)

Challenge/Expert charts will be judged and are equal in value to the heavy steps (18 points are cannibalized - 6 each - from the max scores of the Light, Standard, and Heavy charts to provide scoring space for the Challenge chart).

And because I'm tired and I need something silly in my post or I'll get pissed off again (personal reasons, not BMS related):

Got it. Still gotta figure out what my entry will be, are songs that might possibly be in ITG3 valid? Like, not yet confirmed. And what if they do get confirmed before the end of the competition?
