Default So, when's the next OSC?

After not participating in this competition due to ignorance of the fact that it was going (and simultaneous lack of songs I felt would play out decently), I've just realized I have a song that would work quite well as an ITG-style pad file. If it's any time soon I could probably hold off and step it for that. Otherwise I think I'll just put it up on BMS itself.

Apparently, the next OSC is beginning around the end of the year, but that's only going to be a mini-tournament like OSC 3+ and the Psychopath Edition. Plans for OSC 6 were originally intended for Summer of '07, but it might be in Spring instead since a year is too far away for many people to endure.

I'd recommend you just upload your simfile now and try creating another simfile that's even better once you're more experienced with simfile design.

Oh. I hope the next real OSC is sooner.

Because one of the songs I want to enter may be disqualified by the time the OSC happens. :X

I'm not particularly worried about the ITG bracket, as I've already got two different simfiles that I hope to enter with better feedback than what A Voice Spoke To Me got. I just really need some time to find possibilities for the DDR bracket, which I promise to do better in next time. I've got a couple of ideas, but I still want to find a truly potent song of the eurobeat, trance, or latin genre. How does everyone else get their hands on rare Dancemania songs so easily, anyway?

But yeah, I agree. I want OSC 6 to begin sooner than 2007. OSC 5 was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.

Galbadia Hotel? I don't know if they have rare ones, but they do have a lot of them.

...sorry if its old news to you, but I'm just making sure you know about it... >_>

Well, once the redesign OSC is done, then I'm sure the next competition will start.
Gives me time to get some songs, then.

Galbadia Hotel is good for this sort of thing.

#Infinity: I have the exact opposite problem. I have my DDR bracket sim pretty much 100% complete, I'm just not sure what to use for the ITG bracket. Or the KB bracket if I decide to enter it.

Also, who actually pays for music nowadays? Seriously.

Because it's fun to own CD's now that nobody buys them anymore.

I'm worried that I may not have another song with as much potential to step by the time the next one comes, though. Which is, indeed, why I asked.

I get that way too. If you're really that hopeless of finding a new song to step, then the best I can suggest is that you keep improving your current one until you know that it's positively perfect. If you're at a point where you feel like you can't improve your simfile any further, don't stop. Come back to it later after more exeprience stepping simfiles that you aren't necessarily going to enter for OSC and make more conscious changes/additions to the steps.

Hm. I think I'll just draaawwww it out, then. The oni chart's looking good already, though, consistent use of patterns/mines and all that. I could maybe fiddle with the position of the notes in the final stretch or find a way to make the tower runs feel slightly pitch relevant.

I'll have to keep my eyes opened for something to enter for the keyboard bracket, too.

I don't think I can wait half a year either. Likely I'd have forgotten about it by then.

Well, no matter how long I'll have to wait, I'll simply wait. ;-) I have enough stepfiles to do as an exercise before the real trial.

I promise you: no crappy-looking, freeze-arrow-bug-ridden stepfiles as I did during my brief passage in OSC3. I just hope I'll be there when the contest starts, I don't visit BemaniStyle often and I really tend to overlook the Simulation forums.

Anyways, thanks for the info #Infinity!

some of us take very long times to make our files so we don't mind the year between contests
