Simple way to do graphics for those who are bad at it, have no idea what to do, or have no graphic talent but do have Photoshop:

Render Clouds (choose two colors to fit with the song), Difference Clouds a lot until you get desired results, ANY distort filter (mess with the settings, of course), Text.

...but then again, depending on the song, this doesn't work well... and it works best with Photoshop 7.0, not Photoshop Elements. *cough*

Thus, the reason of my graphics not being as good as they could be. I HAVE to find my Photoshop 7.0 cd-key just for this reason. Elements is so... limited...

July 12. Only four more days until the deadline. Yay!

Wow. That's pretty cool. If only I'd known that before I learned enough to be semi-not-bad. Oh well. Any other graphics newbs out there, use the method as described above.

P.S. It works in CS2, as well.

Maybe I should get Photoshop sometime.

Meh. I don't do too badly with PSP8 to be honest.

Ugh. Paint Shop Pro is awful in comparison. I had to downgrade once, and my graphics turned out terrible.

PSP is why all my graphics suck.

As will the ones I'm submitting for this contest. Woe.

Well, here are examples of a few BGs I've done with PSP for various VJAMix files and such (yeah, most of my decent graphics end up being for other people's files... :P ) These are in roughly chronological order since I've improved a bit with the program since starting to use it.

And banners:

I could probably do better with Photoshop but I don't think these are too bad.

To be honest I think the greatest challenge for me is finding good source images to use and Photoshop can't really help with that. The with you... one for instance I hunted around for a while on a free stock photo site before finding that one (taken by mightydrak) for example. I made the first one (Taratta Dance) myself using just the background "cliff" image and a few pictures of the character, I did everything but the clouds for Double Loving Heart by myself, and I drew everything for the Wana banner but the good-cool logo, but the rest use premade source images usually with text or mask layers (see paramnesia) by me.

They're definitely not bad considering the program you have to work with >_> If you had Photoshop, you'd PROBABLY have an easier time with it. I haven't tried PSP8 though... all I know is that if you compare PSP 6.02 (which I used to use) with Photoshop 5.5 (which I now use), the latter is much more convenient for me.

It works with any Photoshop that has Render -> Clouds. I'm sure older versions with those work too.

You could spice it up more with some other filters, but don't go overboard. :P

Xythar: You make me want to grab PSP. It looks like it does things better than Photoshop Elements (Which, quite frankly, is more of a watered down version of Photoshop... It doesn't even allow for custom layer effects. Just premade ones.). Although, I'd prefer 7.0. Well, I should search for a 7.0 cdkey somewhere...

On another note, I'm checking the rules for ITG entries and am thinking of entering a... country song. I have all the steps done besides Beginner, and I just need to find graphics with Toby Keith...

...if your wondering, the song is I Wanna Talk About Me... <_< >_>

Yeah, clouds don't really match a song about very forceful piano.

Amusingly, Paint Shop Pro actually does certain things better then photoshop does (pixel art and such)

You won't find out which one is mine until the results come out, tho!

Well, it's just about time to go!

I hope the keyboard players are ready to public review and vote. Just three days now...

As far as my judging goes...I'm on vacation for a bit, then I come back and finish judging DDR Bracket 1. 25 of 28 files left...
