How about 10 panel doubles? The tenth panel is above you and you have to headbutt it.

Yea theres an add on for TechnoMotion, but that only supports 8 panels at once, just like the real game. (8 arrows is actually really fun freestyle) Annoy the people on the themers section to help you remap some stuff if you really want 9 buttons, for no reason.

The gametype is also hard coded, so you can do that all you want and nothing will happen

If you want 9 pannels... Couldn't you play Solo & just randomly hit 3 other keys... Does it really matter if they do anything?

true, but pop n' music only uses five actual receptors so if you did 9 panel using that gameplay mode you'd only have five arrows and four repeats.

To be honest I'm in favor of creating (I wouldn't be programing anything... hell no.) a playable 8 buttion dance game for SM or something. It could play like that Madcats game but with good notecharts and such. Hell, if you do it right you could probably just take most of the code from DDR and apply that to it. The down-left & down-right arrows would just involve mirroring the up-left & up-right arrows from solo mode and making noteskins for it. You'd have to program the arrows to scroll from the middle. I also can't imagine how it would look once you got harder note charts going though. The more I think about it though the better it sounds. As for pads... don't colbolt (sp?) fluxs have 8 pannels? A PS2 d-pad and four face buttions, right? So, for many people playing it on a pad wouldn't really be a problem would it?

I'll give it more thought and I may be interested in helping as long as I'm not programing anything... it may be fun. The programing side just seems too daunting a task.

Your thoughts?

Plasma Dance had a psudo-theme of TechnoMotion, eight panels should be close enough until someone makes something with nine panels.

The biggest challenge with 9 panel would be to design a way to display the arrows that can be actually readable in anything other than the easiest stepcharts...
