Bg Video Help

I Started this thread for serious help. I have downloaded a bunch of random Videos and I have put certain videos In my song folders IE I have Unicorn Vid and I put It in A But when i run Stepmania And I play the song YThe Unicorn Bg vid dosent show up Cna someone please help Ive read other threads about scripts and Stuff but I need like a step by step of what to do can someone please help me I would really appreciate it

I am having problems as well. I hate anime packages. You can't tell which is which.

Okay, you downloaded the movies. Now go to ddr.bircd.org and download the BG scripts. Put each script file in the appropriate song folder. And it is SO NOT hard to make BG scripts, SM's editor is easy peezy lemon squeezy with a cherry on top.

One more thing, THE MOVIES DO NOT GO IN THE SONG FOLDER, THEY GO IN THE RANDOM MOVIES FOLDER. Don't worry, you're not the only one.

I actually have gotten movies to work just fine by putting them in the song folder. As a matter of fact I never put them in the Random Movies folder, the ones that I had I just put them in the song folder and they worked fine. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you.

What version of SM are you using? I haven't tried this with 4.0 because I don't really like it too much, so I'm sticking with older versions for now (3.9rc3). It also worked for me when I had a21, a19, and a16.

Hello again, papagreek. I didn't realize when you were posting in the other thread that you were talking about the official BG Changes.

As has been stated, you can get replacement .sm files from http://ddr.bircd.org. These .sm files have the scripts in them already, so just move or copy them into the existing song folder, writing over the original .sm file.

With regards to the video file location, the difference between putting the file in the song's folder and the Random Movies folder is thus: a video in a song's own folder can only be accessed by that song, whereas a song in the Random Movies folder can be accessed by any of your songs. So if multiple songs use the same video, that video should go in the Random Movies folder, so there aren't a bunch of copies of the same video file for all the songs that use it. However, if there's a video file only accessed by one song, it's more appropriate for that video file to go in the song's folder, just for organizational purposes.

One other thing. Just in case you didn't know, Random Movies is a subfolder to your main StepMania installation folder.

Jusy thanx to all of you for your help I took eepiccolos advuice i changed the bg script for the songs then i went to stepmania editor and i went to change/edit bg and i chiose one of the bg vids that i had in the song folder then i saved it again and then it worked so i use this method

It might also be easy (If you dont want to find the scripts) To edit the movies in. Once you have the vids in the song folder, just go to edit the song, and when you find a place in the song you want the vid to appere or change, hit Ctrl+B and you can place the vid there (HINT: Keep the vid names SHORT, otherwise the names trail off of the screen)
