Dance Pad Responds Sluggishly?

I have the Level Six USB Dance Pad with the PSX USB Hub, but my pad responds sluggishly.
Does anyone know a way to fix this problem?

Inside SM there is a way to set a delay. I'mnot 100% sure how to do it but you can probably find it on the offical SM site.

Try autosyncing. Press F7 while you are playing a song (before the steps start preferably) and let the game do the work.

Do the same song a few times and try to get the same numbers before you confirm the change.

This is assuming the sluggishness is always by a certain amount, of course. If you can alternate perfects and boos while stepping to a constant rhythm you may need a better pad/adapter.
