you are, when stepmania loads stepcharts it loads them from directory and makes a file that points to that folder, if you change the name of the folder and reload it has to change it's readpoint.
Or, you can open up Catalog.xml or Stats.xml or whatever file it was, and delete the entry for the song inside the tags. Note that if you have little/no experience with html/java/coding, and don't understand tags, you probably shouldn't do that. I accidentally messed up once and ITG PC erased my entire Catalog.xml file of scores and play count.

It's stats.xml, and while it isn't hard to figure it out if you have some experience with markup language coding, I'd advise people to stay away from it if they don't.

So, I HAVE to change the folder name. Can I change it back to the original name afterwards? Because I certainly don't know what Archer, and neo are talking about...

Changing it back will just cause the old score to show up again, as it'll still be saved in stats.xml and linked to the folder location and name.

It's not like asking someone to wipe their hard drive clean, just add a "_" to the end of the name of a song's folder and it's DONE. SM will think you just added a new song.
I should know. I've accidentally removed scores and even AAA's (and one semi-cheap AAAA) by renaming entire song directories/packs.
