Distance from Dance Pad to CPU?

I want to play StepMania with my dance pad but I'm not sure if I have enough room. I already damaged my PS2 playing DDR and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whats a safe distance from dance pad to my computer so I don't damage the hard drive or anything else? Thanks for any help.

it depends on how strong you stomp

At least 3 feet is good enough for me. If everything is in a firm surface, there really isn't anything to worry about. Pads aren't magnetic and stuff

if you have hardwood, you're fine if not I'd say no more than 3 feet should be fine.

Depends on what kind of pad you have. Softpads will obviously slide more than metal ones.
