In Stepmania 3.9, whenever I play a song that has a video in the background, then while the video's playing the arrows lag. It's not my framerate being too low, I know because I've checked the FPS using fraps and it's at 50-60 FPS in all songs. And it only lags in songs with a video in the background, and only while the video's playing.
Can anyone help?
Also, if you don't know how to fix this, is there any way of making the videos not play, short of deleting the .avi files??
If you want to keep the .avi file, but not use it in the sim, go into the .sm and take out the #BGCHANGES with the .avi. Also, make sure the #BACKGROUND is labeled, as well as the #BANNER.
If it's not that, which I doubt it is, I'd also say your system's too slow-slash-old and likely a low-end P4 on down for speed or you're without an ample video card to push it.
FRAPS may say a certain frame rate but I would be looking more towards what Stepmania says. There should be an option to enable framerate/FPS (Graphics Options? Not at home right now) in the upper right to see just how fast it's pushing when you go to play.
Note the overlay in the upper right. I'd trust that over FRAPS. If you're getting 10 or 15 in there, it's a good sign you've got some problems with your comp more than it is your videos in your files.
Course I should also ask 'Are you running Vista?'.

Go to background options, bgbrightness = 0.
Makes the arrows easier to read too
