There are http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/QK74 Prebuilt kits.
You need 3 sets of this circut, You need 3 Parallel ports on the computer.
This is so you can control ALL the lights. If you JUST want the cabinet lights, that will work off of LPT1, however you need LPT2 for Pad Left and LPT3 for Pad Right.
Adding LPT ports? Weve got this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815166007
9 dollars! Two Ports!
If you have a gayass BTX computer that doesnt feature 1 built in LPT Port, weve got this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815124004
9 dollars again! Eugh! No 4 dollar card for one port.
Dont have PCI? You probably dont have A bulit in LPT port either.
1 port: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815283006
2 ports: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815283004
Watch out though, those aint cheap.
Then from there you build or aquire the relay systems, and you play HookUpWires

Metaphorical story time!
"Hello sir do you have any lug nuts?"
"Here have a look at our fine line of lumber, painting supplies, and everything you need for your project! *three hour sales pitch*"
"Listen pal that's nice and all but I still just need some damned lug nuts."

Any help would be appreciated! | Try to get intouch with Sfetaz (the guy who runs DDR East Coast), He knows the exact pins you need, he's helped me in the past.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Wow some other people who are as into makin their own SM mech... nice... I've been working "perfecting" one for quite some time now, collecting origonal DDR step patterns and songs from 1st through now Super Nova (God I love having a TV adapter for my computer, I can just visual rip the patterns then reloadthem in as too the music... - turn off the announcer first - ) anyhow, I've been working on something I thought might work for the computer I'm working on. E Mechines based computer (well whats left of the origonal computer...) I'm writing up a command to run through the WINXP BIOS settings to boot up data from a hard drive partition from DOS. I've gotten Stepmania to boot this way - IN DOS EVEN - however the drivers are another story. I'm trying some old ripped DOS programing from DOOM and the like to see if I can figgure out how they used to do that crap in dos... If anyone else figgures it out before me let me know.
EDIT- Oh and Katze, that Devil Zukin Avatar rocks so much (much stealedge.)

The tutorial it's fine, but.... if I want a Stepmania "PUMP", how can I do that? what do I need? I guess that from DDR to PUMP isn't to much diference when you look inside but "you never knows..."
I need info as soon as posible, I'm in a hurry and for me every minute counts...
After I saw this tuto, I though that this wasn't so hard, but I guess I was wrong.
This will be my first time with a SM Arcade, and I really need help.
Please !!!!!!! | |

I saw http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/QK74 but wasn't quite sure... how would something like that interface to stepmania? I"m not expecting a big huge tutorial or anything just a word in the right direction would be nice ^_^ Does that work in the same sense as what is on CNLohr's site?

What theme would work best as a arcade set up? I was thinking possibly FoonMix2 since it uses mostly any option a pad player would want but it seems a little off... just a feeling.
Any theme suggestions?
