Angry I hate my keyboard.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop.

The keyboard is becoming a retarded piece of rat feces.

I play SM on-handed (3 fingers) on the arrow keys. When I have to hit DOWN and then UP in quick succession, I slide my middle finger from the down key to the up key and hit it.

I used to be able to pass Gaussian Blur (A0's steps) and One More Lovely by Eggman by playing like this. My right forearm didn't like it, but I could.

Now, I can't even get through half of either song.

Because whenever I have to hit DOWN and then UP in quick succession, I get my middle finger stuck under the UP key. That results in me missing a whole bunch of steps. And that is not good, especially with this. The LDUR repeated runs kill me now.

What should I do? I have absolutely no intention of switching to index OR spread. And I don't want to buy a new keyboard. However, I do have a few spare keyboards. They're really loud and have keys around 3 inches deep, but they're keyboards.

Would it be better if I stuck with the laptop keyboard or should I use the 3-inch-deep keyboard?

That's what you get for being stupid enoughto use a build-in laptop keyboard for gaming. Plus, bigger keyboards are better then the crappy built-in ones anyways.

I play with a Model M and LOVE IT

That's the keyboard that I don't want to use.

Oh well. I'll try it.

I have just a basic Dell keyboard and love it. I would recommend against using the built-in laptop keyboard. Laptops weren't made for that (although regular keyboards weren't either, but they hold up a lot better). You can ruin the keys if you play on it too much.

Mooga, my grandmother still has an old ass computer in her basement with that same keyboard. They keys are really loud on it (I used to play around on it all the time).

I wish I could buy those. Much better than mine.

Maybe I should persuade my parents to get a docking station setup.

http://www.fingerworks.com/igesture_numpad.html - Try it.

I play the same style as you, but my built-in has never given me problems.

I don't either, but if don't want to have to buy a new keyboard, then why the hell would someone recommend you spend $229.00 on something you don't even know what it is?

Looks cool tho.

May I suggest a nice Z-Board for like $59.99? Yeah it IS loud... but it is the best keyboard I've ever run across for this... it's the only one I was able to black flag Dokudenpa on (like 2800 steps, keyboard only, fast as hell). Plus it has that ever so nice ability of hitting all four buttons at once for those ITG-esque simfiles.

i got an old Microsoft Internet Multimedia keyboard that was bundled with some mice i bought a while ago, its pretty good and works flawlessly with stepmania.
plus it has PS/2 and USB inputs, so i usually have it plugged in at the same time as my regular keyboard.
