Index play style?

While searching through youtube videos, I saw some videos of people playing stepmania using the 'index' technique. All I've ever used was either spread ASKL or one-handed arrow keys.
Can someone describe the method of playing with 2 index fingers and tell whether it's worth learning this technique or not?

Stepmania playstyles is all about preferences. I play spread, because I play better with spread than any other with settings. I suggest you try it out, and if you like it, go for it.
At first I thought that playing index was the hardest, but the most powerful fingersetup, but as all setups, it has disadvantages. Also, if you have played with spread(or one-handed) for a long time, it will be hard to start using index, it's like starting all over again.

Yeah, I'd like to try it out and see if it's fun, but I have no idea which keys do you have to use for playing index.

Accuracy (index) > Beating harder songs (spread).

Take that into consideration too.

Most (if not all) indexers play on the arrow keys. Some other people use combinations like WASD or 4568 on the number pad. Index is like having two really, really quick miniature feet.

index is as fun as spread, it just uses different files. and it's kinda limitate, since you can't do omgmegabslol files on index unless you get as good as anobody or some other ancient stepmania glory. and nobody makes good index files anymore, they all make spread files now.

I started of playing index and sorta modified it to play harder stuff. I use both the arrow keys and WASD at the same time. When lots of crap comes up, throw in the middle fingers as well. Once you get good at it it's pretty much unstopable. But yeah, it's all about preference and shit loads of practice.

I can't figure out how to play spread correctly.

I can do everything in KBMP, CKBMP, and some other packs... BUT NOT THOSE DAMNED SPREAD SONGS.

I like being able to AAA Keyboard songs on Index though, that's probably why I don't wanna change.

spread is much more amusing once you've got the hang of it.

I'll forever be a spread player but I play index once in a while just for kicks, its pretty fun.
