The old thread hasn't been updated in a while and a lot of these packs have moved/vanished, so...
Here's the story: these packs are made by groups of simmers featuring artists off of muzie.co.jp (sort of a soundclick-ish-deal). Most of the music is comparable in quality to DDR music, although the genres seem to tend towards harsher electronica. THe mixes are designed to emulate a full DDR game with full steps, secrets, courses, and even some pretty nice themes! Here are some links to packs.
(NOTE: Some of these have dropped off the internet, or have secrets that I don't know how to access. If anyone has these and can upload them, or has information about the secrets, please let me know! Thanks!)
FOONMIX SERIES: (main site: foonmix top)
Pretty much everyone knows about these. The theme is pretty popular as well. Notable for the Monotune series of boss songs, featuring some of the best use of negative BPM tricks I've ever come across. Make note that several of the harder songs use those tricks, and that it might crash newer versions of stepmania.
FOONMIX - DDR (^^) mix

Go into the foonmix PLUS folder, then the trn_remake folder (if you somehow renamed it, it's the folder for The Reviving Nightmare), then the folder that says part3_7. The .ini in there isn't an .ini, it's a zip! Rename the extension to zip and enjoy your new files. |

This is lesser known, but also pretty high quality, with a theme I really enjoyed as well. They've released 3 packs, with a fourth on the way.

Despite the title, this is NOT just an update to 2nd mix. There are several new songs here. I believe if you download this that it includes 2nd Mix by default.

These packs are honestly not as good as the others... the first pack is pretty poor in my opinion by they improve steadily and D3MIX Complete is something pretty solid, I think. There are about a hundred of these packs so wall of text inbound.

There are four of them, each passworded zips. The passwords are dates:
1 → 2004/08/28
2 → 2005/04/01
3 → 2006/08/28
4 → 2008/07/27
The first is located directly inside the main folder. The second is a file named 2.crs... just rename it to a zip and open it. The last two are downloadable from the above link. Secret four contains Z#00, the boss song of this mix. It is nonsense. KCD MIX - (main site -

These packs focus more on J-Rock and J-metal.
If you like MintJam or 403 or that sort of thing, these are for you.
They alse released a special pack with the "Nightmare City" flash in the bg.

For KCD2, they are located in a zip in the courses folder. Depending on your download they might already be installed.
For KCD3, the same is true, but the password is included in the extra stage course files in the songs folder. Open them in Notepad to get it. (Hint: It's kokado)
LTF-MIX: This mix was great, had a good theme, good music, pretty much everything going for it. Unfortunately it has vanished off of the internet. If anybody has a copy of this, please please upload it as it pretty much ruled. An "append" mix was also planned but apparently has been cancelled.

Another very solid pack. Also contains the original Z as a boss song. (This isn't DM Ashura's Z, it's basically a nonsense fast song but I found it entertaining.)

As far as I can tell this is a lot of repeats, albeit with better graphics and slightly altered steps. Libera Mea nd Hit Back are pretty awesome songs regardless. Also, many of these songs are from ltfmix, which is suddenly pretty hard to find, so this might be your only way of getting them.
