Personally I think this should be a sticky, the old thread was really popular and extremely informative.

I almost feel bad for asking but what exactly are these? Are they like completely fan made song packs or what? Seeing as my Japanese is still a work in progress I can't really read what they have to say about it...

Please & thanks.

Most (if not all) of these are fan-made mixes. They all include new songs, most include new courses, and a lot include new themes or noteskins

A lot of them aren't high-quality stuff, but I tend to find that each one has a couple of files that are enjoyable, a few that are ok, and a bunch that are either not memorable or total crap.

It still tends to have a better success rate then randomly downloading stuff from the sims database, so you may as well go for it

most of the sites will be pretty clearly marked where the download is (even foonmix's stuff, while all in japanese, has the link to the .smzip file in english)

just find links on the page and try to download them, haha

On the other hand, some of them are extremely high quality, most notably the Foonmix series and Strawberry Steps.

yes but those are MUCH MUCH RARER

and to be honest, I wasn't too thrilled with most of the stuff in Foonmix2. Some of them were cool (I liked Rendezvous at the Mountain and Razorback Jumping a lot) but a lot of it was really bland and non-descript

and the steps seemed to be gravitating towards ITG style, which I am personally not a fan of

Dont forget the new monotune, which is very hard to pass.

Musically I liked Monotune Respect

stepwise, it was a good keyboard chart, but you just had to get used to the BPM warp trick and learn where it did it

also lol@pure foon strikes back

Foonmix 2's hidden songs were good as well. I personally liked TRIP MACHINE ETERNAL, Kenta did it with muscat knife, and PARANOiA KFL MAX.
