Default Just a quick question

I JUST made my very first simfile the other day, and I wanted to ask.

Is it frowned down upon to have no backgrounds or banners?

Oh, and incase anyone asks, I make my simfiles the ghetto way.

Record the steps in the Stepmania editor, so basically, I know a song so well, I just insert the steps as I'm listening to the song. The steps are quite nice, is this also frowned down upon though?

One more thing, It's a challenge difficulty, so how do I make it say like 10 steps, or whatever, instead of 1.

Edit: I make simfiles for songs I can't find simfiles for, so dead on accuracy and perfection isn't my deal. I just like playing to the song.

Double Edit: I don't think simfiling is TOO hard, so I'm probably gonna let out a slew of simfiles, although they probably will be around 9 steppish, and 1 difficulty. Like I said, I make them for me. And I only have one difficulty. Go easy on me! T__T
Also, the song is Soba ni Iru Kara: of Naruto

"Is it frowned down upon to have no backgrounds or banners?"
In General, most people like the complete feeling of having banners and BG, although half assed banners are also frowned upon.

Unfortunatly, making acurate steps through record tends to ceeate sub par steps. I suppose if its intended as a keyboard file, it won't be TOO much of an issue, but if making a pad file, the steps can come out a bit difficult, if not impossible to play.

I believe its in the "Song Info" option when you press ESC in stepmania.

Great idea to create simfiles to songs nobody else has. What I recommend is that you make a bunch of simfiles and keep most of them on your hard drive. Find your favorites and tweak them with banners and backgrounds and steps that are perfectly on sync. Never submit simfiles that are made purely by recording. It is very frowned upon to submit simfiles that haven't been adjusted by hand through the editor.

Alright. I think I might start regularly submitting, once I perfect my tweaking abilities, and feel more around the Stepmania editor.

You probably WANT to have backgrounds and such though...

If your really desperate for good GFX you could always hire someone in the Graphic Requests forum.

If you use Ctrl+R to make your steps then do NO editing/polishing of them afterwards there's a 90% chance your simfile will be really bad.

Trust me when I say it's a bad idea.
