Default Kraft Game Pad Compatible?

Hi guys, I did a search and couldn't find this in the forums anywhere so here's the deal. I found a Kraft Gamepad on the Internet which is free except for $6 shipping. It was made so that kids could play the Kraft online games but it is connected through USB so I was wondering if it would work for Stepmania also?

Here's the link:

Left-right and front-back jumps don't work on the Kraft Pad because the arrows are mapped to standard joystick axes. It has to be modified to make it work with StepMania, which will then make it incompatible with the crappy Kraft games. If you dig around on the official StepMania website in their list of dance pads, you'll find instructions for multiple techniques for rewiring the Kraft pad.

Ah, the combination of StepMania and cheesy goodness. Can it possibly get better than this, even taking into account parallel universes where there could be things so good that we can't even comprehend them?

It must be Friday, I'm not making any sense because my mind's on the weekend already, even though the rest of me isn't.

If you modify the pad for Stepmania (to remove the joystick axis issue) the Kraft games will no longer work, FYI. I had one, and tried the solder mod. I completely and utterly screwed it up (removed a cap) - if your not fully capable in soldering teeny-tiny pinhead size things, don't even try that mod. Do the foil one.

My suggestion, though, is to just grab a pad (or 2 pads) from eBay. I got 2 cheapy pads (since I'm just starting) and a pretty good PS2->USB adapter for around 30$ shipped. Drop me a PM and I can let you know who I got it from if your interested - he seems to sell a bunch. (I dont want to be accused of advertising by posting it here )

I'm happy with the pads I have now (then again, I'm horrible and can barely do a 3 footer) and I have 2 of them and can do couples/two person/etc. gameplay without a problem at all.

Yeah, but there's just something special about combining my favorite food with my favorite game! And I'm pretty good at soldering (which you may have guessed from my user name). I may just get a couple of these. I'm such a packrat.
