Loop doesn't seem to work for BG movies

So I've been trying to make a short animation loop as the background of my song for the entire song. I was trying to do it that way so I didn't have a to make a giant avi file that just plays the same thing for a long time.

I added a bg change on beat 0 and set it to loop, 100% rate and turned the other two off.

It doesn't work though, it only plays it once. I'm not really sure what else to do if loop doesn't make it loop.

I searched the web but couldn't find anyone actually explaining loop specifically, just mentioning it as an aside.

1) What version of StepMania?
2) What video codec did you use?

I don't actually remember for sure. I think it was it something really generic like mpeg-4 or something. Is there one you would suggest?

3.9 has problems looping MPEGs for some reason, while 4 has no problem. OTOH, I've had problems looping AVIs (mainly DiVX codec) in SM4 while they work fine in 3.9. I suggest re-encoding it to DiVX or XVID, which should work.

The AVI looping problems in 4 probably relate to the known bug in FFMPEG with DivX5 stuff. I've never had issues looping videos myself though.

It's issues with the way stepman handles those specific codecs. In due time stepmania 4 should fix the problem with AVIs once DiVX fixes their crap.
