Problem with the japanese chars with courses

Well, I have create a course called LEGENDARY ROAD SN. VER, and I want that in the course appear like this: 伝説鬼 SN. VER, but I can't, I have used the thing of display course and doesn't work.

Here how is the .crs file:

#COURSE:LEGENDARY ROAD SN. VER;
#DISPLAYCOURSE:{LEGENDARY ROAD-CHAR.PNG}SN. VER;
#LIVES:4;

#SONG:Fascination -eternal love mix-:HEAVY

You can't use DWI style Images to use in place of text. So the kanji for Legend Road already exists, just use that.

I think you are trying to say that I use the 3 japanese chars that I wrote in the post.
I try it using notepad but they appear like 3 squares and is StepMania appear like this:

??? SN. VER

If I do that.

You'll need a more complete Japanese charset, like the ones included with the Cyberia Style 4 or Pop*Candy themes. The one that comes with StepMania is pretty limited.

Emm.. I didn't understand :S ... I am trying with 3.95 and 3.9

How to make it even simpler....

Let me explain: StepMania (any version) comes by default with a standard set of Japanese/Korean characters.
The problem is that the character set it's pretty limited, so there are high chances of having the problem that you're having now.

Now, there are themes that have a more complete character set, that you won't have any problem with: as I mentioned, Pop*Candy or Cyberia Style 4.

Try downloading any of there themes (they're for 3.9) and testing your course there.

There must be something wrong on your side.
I just tested those three Japanese characters from the first post in a copy of a course, and they show even in the default Stepmania 3.9 theme...











WAIT: just a little question...did you make sure to save the course file with the UTF-8 encoding????

EDIT: I already solve it was that the 3 japanese chars I post here: 伝説鬼 need to be in the .crs but I didn't know i need to save the course in UTF-8

Also where I can get japanese characters? because the 鬼 is incorrect, need to be another japanese char.

I already told you. Themes like Cyberia Style 4 or Pop*Candy have a more complete Japanese character set.

no! I am not referring to that, where I get kanji that you selec t to copy and paste, but I already found one page with 1000 kanji O_O

I'm also having problems with the popcandy theme, but I've no idea what UTF-8 and how to save it as that, because the only site I know where to get it from is some japanese website and it saves as smzip.
Am I supposed to download a codec or something?
What am I supposed to do to make it work? :S
