Problem with Stepmania

I'm not sure where too post this, so I thought it would be best Here.

I currently have Stepmania 3.9 - and it has always worked fine. I'm not sure when / how this happened, but I have no clue on how too fix it - my brother has already tried reinstalling - but the same problem consists

I start it up - runs through the songs / loading, then when it gets too the actuall game (Like, Play / Options menu, etc) it goes completely black - and unable too play, yet I can hear everything just fine.

Any help would really be appreciated - Thanks in advance

Is it going full screen or windowed? If its going full screen, try opening C:\Program Files\StepMania\Data\StepMania.ini (or wherever you have it installed), and change the Windowed part to 1 (instead of 0 which means "Off", wheras 1 means "On").

It goes full screen - I'll give that a shot and hope it works - thanks for the advice

Edit: it's still completely black =(.

What are the specs of your PC? Also are you using any special themes you downloaded that could perhaps be conflicting with your program (possibly wrong version compatability between theme and program)?

if worse comes to worse do a system revert if your a windows user.

Everything of Stepmania is in its original form - no added anything

Specs: (not sure if this is what your looking for)

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Process 2800+
1.80GHz, 768 MB/Ram
Physical Address Extension

120GB harddrive / 70gb free.

(never was good at comp specs lol)

Mabye change the color settings on your comp?

Did you install any hardware or software around the time things got screwy? That might have something to do with it.

Also, I'll ask the potentially annoying question of: do you have Anti-virus/Firewall/Anti-spyware software running, and is it updated? And do you practice "safe" web surfing? My mother-in-law had a video problem, and it turned out to be from a virus. Even after getting her anti-virus software and having it remove the virus, video still didn't work and I had to re-install windows. And that annoyed her because she lost her pirated Wordperfect software, heh heh.
