Can anyone recommend me some good software for recording videos? All the programs I've tried so far offer poor framerate and do not record sound, so they were a waste of time.
I'm basically directing this question to those who often post videos of Stepmania on youtube, cause they know the best which program to use.
Actually, Fraps sucked in comparison to SnagIt! 8...
That's the one I use...but keep in mind that I'm also using a 1.8GHz dual-core with a 512MB RADEON X1550...and I still get a few dropped frames at higher resolutions of 640x480 or higher (maybe 1 every 30 when drained by SM extensively). It takes quite a bit of a computer to keep it together regardless of what you use.
Before I had this comp, I had a 1.0GHz Pentium 3 and the best I could do for vid recording on my desktop was using a Creative camera to record the screen at a res of 320x240 at no better than 18FPS. Still beat out any and all recording software for speed though.
$37 does sound a lot though for the full, since the trial version of Fraps only allows 30 seconds, based on the current versions. What do you think, guys?
i know the cost for any full version is not a problem for you, btw with fraps i can record 1024x768 without frame drops, and i can hardly run halflife2
fraps usually like's to kill the FPS on Stepmania if it's not in a retarded and rediculously small resolution (unless you happen to have ALOT of RAM). So I would probably recommend SnagIt
Alternately, if you have a capture card, just meddle around with some wiring, rig up a TV to be your monitor, and just record that
