Question about those 'OLD' files in the sim folders

Those 'OLD' sm and 'OLD' dwi files that are in the sim folder...um, are they of any use at all? Can I (or should I) delete these files before uploading my sim on the site? Thanks

you don't have to, it's just a backup of the file before it was edited last by stepmania.

Generally, I delete them only after I'm certain that I'm done with a file and are about to release them for use. It's generally not going to put much extra into the file's ZIP size at the end but it is good clean-up practice to keep up, in my opinion. Looks shoddy otherwise.

.old files are there for backup. If you accidentally erase or mess up the SM/DWI file, you just convert the OLD file to a SM/DWI file. All you do is open it up and save it as an SM.
