Its most likely a bug in the beta, Stepmania 4.0 is an intermediate build, not a final build. You can most likely expect some bugs, they'll get ironed out eventually.
As of right now, I reloaded from disk in the options menu and the missing notes went back. Strange, huh?

Press Control and then S in notepad.

It will give you the option of saving it as a txt document or "all files."

Pick all files, so that you can then save your file as a .sm file extension.

something we missed that was pointed out in another thread:

Setting the difficulty of your chart
If you solely make the SM charts using the stepmania editor, you have to input the difficulty through the editor. (aka the step difficulty) To do this you hit ESC and the first thing you'll see is Edit Step Statistics. Hit that and you'll see something that says Meter and 1 press Right to make the meter higher and left to make it lower (1 being lowest setting and 15 being the highest). If you want higher than a 15 (i'll personally kill you if you do so...jk) you open the .sm file with wordpad or notepad and find the chart's difficulty and you'll see the meter number in there, just edit and save. Good stuff

I have a question and it can be added in the sticky part.
I made some bpm's with stops BUT when i wanted to delete them ( just change them back to the normal bpm )
It goes trough the other bpm...
And know i dont have a clue to remove the old bpm which i don't need no more.
Is there a shortkey to remove bpm's ????

Go into the .sm or .dwi file and change/remove the BPM manually.

Can we talk about lyrics and specifically the .lrc file? I have the lyrics working well, but I'm not sure how to change the color.

Is the tag something like this?

[COLOUR]0x#FF9900

How do I set the font color and the font's border color?

Thanks!

Edit:
So yeah, that's it to set the font color. It appears that the theme determines whether there will be a border around the text or not.

Ok this is my first time ever for creating a simfile *Complete noob lol -.-*

I'm using a song called "Parallel Days" by Hirano Aya and I have the full length version of the song

Is there a way that I can use the Stepmania program to shorten the song length to about a minute or two? Or do I have to use a different program to edit the song length?

Edit:
Oh as well, umm how do you find out the BPM of the song? It's not on any of the file information of the song. Do you know how you identify the BPM?

You actually have to use audio editing tools as far as cropping the actual song itself... unless of course your only using the first bit of it then you can just step that bit and the song will stop once there are no more steps.

Hmm? Audio editing tools? is that in the Stepmania program? Sorry for my ignorance still trying to learn this

As well do you know how to fade in and out during editing the song so when I play it, the song doesn't just appear out of nowhere but comes in smoothly with a fade in then ends with a fade out

You definately need to learn how to edit audio then because stepmania can't do that... I recommend Adobe Audition as far as audio editing tools, works wonders and its stupidly easy to use
