Default Stepmania Timing Thread

I recently bought 2 metal DDR pads, and they are great. After exhausting the song list on my DDR game, I decided to play some user-generated songs on Stepmania. I already had a universal game pad to usb switch, so I plugged my pad into that and mapped all the keys w/ JoyToKey. I then went into Stepmania and played a song. Immediately, I noticed lag. I have to hit the pad wayyy before the arrow goes into the "hitting range". Is there any way I can synchronize my notes, like you can do with guitar hero or rock band? Thanks in advance!

Try mapping your keys directly in Stepmania as opposed to using Joy2Key

Yes, but I have never had any problem with other beat games that use keyboard input (DJMAX/o2jam). Besides that, the monitor has a 5ms refresh rate (btb) which has proven to work relatively flawlessly.

I am convinced that it is either my converter or my pad. Has anyone had any troubles with the TX-1000 series pads? Has anyone had any trouble with the "Generic Game Pad Converter" from Walmart?

Thank you for your help
