Stepmania On Xbox

I just put stepmania on my xbox. The only problem is that during the songs the avi/mpeg files wont play. Has anyone else had this problem? If so can any one give me a fix or workaround for it?

there's no way around it, why do you ask? 64mb of RAM

edit: you have to compile it using the XDK and install a specific driver patch so that the SM build has .xmv compatability, then you have to use the SDK to compile the videos into said format. Before you even ask, no you cannot get it anywhere at all. It's software and a specific xbox OS that game developers are given straight from MS to make xbox games.

When the song starts, theres a still picture image that plays before the video starts. Is it possible to get it to just display that picture so I'm not stuck staring at a black screen with arrows?

Wrong!

The reason video doesnt work is because the random build of ffmpeg that SM uses is NOT ported to the xbox yet (A newer version APPARENTLY is but its not backwards compatible.)


As for your issue dude? Disable movies in the options menu and clear out your Random movies directory.

this post is nothing to really talk about bc i know what he means bc stepmaniax is the only 1 that can run those videos and we shouldnt even talk about stepmaniax all these talk should trashed i mean no respect to any who may object but we would be wasting time helping out someone who needs help with stepmania on xbox and we all no that this is illegal so if this is what he needs help with this post needs to be locked. besides the more he asks the more its almost he will want to get a hold a version for xbox so lets not get ourselves in hot water. katze even if he used ffmpeg we would end up with him asking for the SDK for xbox and i dont want to end up seeing this post look like we are giving away anything illegal

Dont backseat moderate. Its perfectly legal if you own a SDK. For all I know he actually does own an SDK.

Since everyone so politely ignored your question. I can't really help you with DWI as I've been creating SMs for so long that I simply don't remember how to work with the DWIs... but in the SM just open the *.sm file and remove everything in the "#BGCHANGES:;" tab... but don't erase the tab itself.

Basically just remove anything that has a video extension (should all be AVI, this IS StepMania after all). That should fix your black background problem. If the problem persists then add a background change in the same place that simply puts the original background back up.
