Tinkering with lag yourself! My bad if this has already been a topic,. but I've never seen this discussed.
So, I did some diving for fixes for the lag that some people seem to get with this game. It says that the best two ways to fix it are to check how your audio output settings are for your rig, or telling StepMania to render with either D3D or OpenGL, rather than both.
None of that seemed to work for me, though.
So I looked around the StepMania config file(Program Files\StepMania\Data\StepMania.ini, I believe?) and noticed that there are parts in their that you can edit to actually modify the window which the buttons have to be pressed to register a hit.
JudgeWindowAdd=0.030000
JudgeWindowScale=1.160000
JudgeWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.130000
JudgeWindowSecondsGood=0.105000
JudgeWindowSecondsGreat=0.050000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
JudgeWindowSecondsMine=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsOK=0.250000
JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect=0.040000
Those lines of code didn't start out like that. Rather, that's how they ended up after I modified them a bit. I tried tinkering with the Perfect line first, and it worked, but it made the perfect window HUGE. So that wouldn't work. So I set everything back to normal and changed the Add line to .03 and things seem to be fine....just way too hard to get Greats(though Goods come up pretty properly).
Any of you guys ever try this? And how do you guys have these lines set if you do(because the absence of Greats where they belong is a bit of a bother for me...).
I'm playing Pump Paradise, BTW, so excuse my references to Perfects and Greats and such. lol |
