Does anyone know any good guides to using Virtualdub? I'm trying to make a BG video, but each time I save a short 1-2 min. video file, it ends up being over 1 GB. Thanks in advance.

All you need is:

Divx Codec - http://www.divx.com/

or

XviD Codec - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Koepi_XviD.htm

They both have bitrate calculators... (And you know Bitrate causes big and small filesizes, right?)

Just installed that before you open up virtualdub.
-Plus, did you know. If you go to video tab -> Compression

Is all the magic of making small video size are?

I posted a guide on divx compression on virtualdub back on v6.0 days. I guess I forgot to copy and and save hehe...

Before saving a video, remember to go to Video -> Compression and choose a compression method (DivX or Xvid recommended). On default it's uncompressed RGB which means the file is going to be HUGE!

Also, consider reducing the resolution of the movie to save space: Video -> Filters -> Add -> resize
