Eh, just a random question since I don't post on here really and i'm about as bored as I can get right now.
Personally, I think i'd take comments over score.

Obviously comments. Score only boosts popularity and that's barely if no one's ever heard of whatever you're looking at. At least with comments I know what my audience is thinking, if they're thinking at all. :P | |

I value comments as well. It's really good for me to see what my audience thinks about my simfiles. Just like MdX MaxX stated, I'd like to know what was good about a sim that got a high rating so I can continue to do what made that sim good in future projects and what was bad about a sim that got a low rating so I can correct the mistakes that I made and try to avoid them in the future.

Comments, without a doubt. I used to care about the scores, but after being around long enough I realized that they mean absolutely nothing. People will rate low simply because the file is hard, or because they don't like hands, or they don't like the song, despite the quality of the simfile. They'll vote high if they like the song, or if you put a lot of generic, uncreative 16th stream in your file (keyboard only). Just look at some of the simfiles that have a perfect rating and you'll see what I mean.
Still, comments don't mean anything to me unless they're coming from a person who actually has a reputation, and knows what they're talking about. I virtually ignore all the comments on my keyboard files, but I highly appreciate comments on my pad files, because I know the people on BMS are much more knowledgeable about pad files compared to keyboard. That sounds counter-intuitive...
On the one hand you might have a point about nubs being nubs.
On the other hand you'd rather just say 'fuck it' to all comments relating to keyboard against people that aren't better than you?
I'd rather take all comments into account unless they guy (or ma'am) is a freaking nutcase and doesn't know their head from their ass in terms of simfiling or if the most they have to say is 'lol liekz duh song 10'd' or 'u sux 1'd'. Reputation doesn't mean a damn if they don't know crap. | |

Comments definately. I've gotten good/bad ratings, usually I pm the person who gave me the bad rating and asked what was wrong... up to this day only one has responded -_-
I prefer to learn how to improve than just get a rating. (Good ratings are nice though  ) | |

Comments, for sure. It explains better than the score.
But, below the comments, and below the scores, are D/L numbers,
because I haven't gotten any comments or ratings on my simfiles
submitted to bemanistyle.
I do post simfiles on FlashFlashRevolution's simfile database.
90% of my steps are very hard, so, most times I got comments
that said that my simfile sucks, unplayable.
And they said that they know that I cannot play them! :P | |
