Why did you start making step files?

Pretty much what I'm trying to say is what made you want to start making step files.

Me, I saw other people using custom songs on an ITG2 machine and I wanted to do that to. So I asked one of them how did they do it. They told me to use Stepmania. So I did and well, I now have 3 pretty synced up songs(not perfectly synced but it's close enough). One of them is currently on the site right now. It's called Back from hell by Primal Fear just so you know.

I only wanted to do one stepfile, and it's still the only one I've actually finished, I haven't started any others.

I did it because I like that battle theme a bit too much.

Battle theme? There's plenty of them, which one? Just curious that's all.

What made me start making simfiles was jealousy

All my friends have sims of their own, and I wanted to make 1, too

Mostly because I did one because DJ Bouche was and he said I was good enough at it.

That was four years and 150 sims prior of a statement ago.

Mainly because I felt that certain songs weren't appreciated enough, so I felt DDR/SM would help bring up their popularity. XD

Because my compatriot w1p3out has made loads and loads of them, I've decided to start my own works... but with a different vision of course. I don't want my stepfile collections to be a pale copy of the Dancing Wipeout series ^_^

I got really into DDR-style music like trance, techno, etc. I wanted to try my hand at remixing some songs myself, using a crappy cut-and-paste/pitch change/speed change method. My songs didn't work out so well. After trying 5 songs I decided to stop. Now I just make steps for songs I could see in DDR, or songs that are interesting enough to be a simfile. I'm working on the Wii Commercial song right now.

I started making simfiles just because I wanted to dance to a particular song and maybe let others do the same thing. If the music especially begs me to step it, then I will do that too.

I want to step music I like because it's fun, challenging and you get opinions from other players. Also, there's something about the DDR stepping community that I'd like to be a part of.
And since Stepmania is basically what I do nowadays it'd feel wrong to not try to step songs...

This is my reason as well. Not to mention that after playing Rhythm games for a while, my ear starts catching songs that I would think would step well, and from there, end up mapping out the steps in my head.

I only recently got serious enough in Stepmania to do real releasable files (have 3 now, working on a couple more plus a few ITG edits).
