For IIDX , play doubles, and we could use the 1P Left as the turntable keys, and then everything else is obvious. For 5 key, use Solo. We don't have 10/14key, or keysounds, but we could get rid of a few notes for practice and stuff, and finally make our own notecharts! What'dya think?
If you use DWI, I'm sure it could work for that too. I don't have it so...

and of course since stepmania's so customizable, it wouldn't be hard to make it a pop'n simulator too.
I'm praying for keyboardmania support too. And taiko. and guitar freaks and drummania.
...and karaoke revolution by stepmania 5.0

Pop'n support was abandoned because only a few people were working on it, then a bunch of the rest of the team bulldozed it for more DDR stuff.

we're talking about version 4.0, which is currently in development. It only has cvs releases. Which means its pre-beta, pre-alpha even.
Keysound support is mostly done in the code, but there are no gameplay modes that support it, because the code hasn't been finished yet. They can currently load bms files and whatnot.

Freiza added keysound support for Stepmania a while ago, but then it was taken out by Glenn.
Glenn then added his own keysound support. It exists. The only reason why it doesn't work is because nobody still has the beat theme and noteskin. its there.
And i believe its on my comp at home. So when i get home i will check it for full support.

keysounded bms files DO load and play in sm4, but you need to use it on a different gametype because stepmania doesn't work.
however, the keysounds only play when there is a note for that button. no messing around hitting lots of notes for sounds.
also because of autogen steps a lot of notes get skipped, and aren't played automatically. something weird is going on.
