Default Desync?

On my laptop, in either BPM or LR2, my simfiles get desynced. The backing track gets either behind or ahead of the keysounds. I have no idea what the cause is--anybody else experience this, and what did you do about it?

Does it happen when many other programs are open at the same time?

I usually recommend closing all unnecessary programs, to minimize the chances of random CPU usage spikes and disk accesses (will help greatly)

Does this happen on every BMS, or just certain songs?

also, what are the specs of your laptop, including sound card? my laptop struggles to play any iidx sim very well and it has all decent hardware except for the onboard sound card. my desktop at home has a soundblaster audigy 2zs and it plays all sims perfectly.

It's a Dell Vostro 1000. Sempron 3600+, Radeon 1150 grpahics, 1 GB ram, 120GB hard drive, 15.4" 1280x800 screen...

It happens on every file, and regardless of what else is running in the background. I fresh rebooted several times trying to fix it and came up with no answer. and yes, it happens on every BMS.

vista? xp? i'm assuming vista since vostros are relatively new. if vista, it could be that the OS itself is eating up enough resources that your 1GB of ram isn't quite enough, but that may not be right. i think it could still be your sound card, as if you didn't order something special it came with the onboard cheapo sound.

Yes, onboard cheapo card, and no, it's XP.

that's good (xp)

sucky thing is that it's kinda tough to test if that's the problem on a laptop, you'd have to buy a decent laptop soundcard and that can easily be $50-$80.

i don't have any other suggestions at the moment, though.

Warpticon:
Does it happen in both full-screen and windowed modes? On some computers I've had better synching in windowed mode.

Haven't tried in window mode...I'll get back to you after testing that.

Thanks for all the attempted help.

Have you updated your drivers for both the sound and graphics? That might help improve syncing in fullscreen. Other than that, cool beans!

it might be not synced because your Refresh Rate...
and your V-Sync setting was forced...

the other problem was, maybe you using LCD...
so the screen seems un-synced well
