Default EMS USB2 (Dual Shooter) vs. Windows Vista

----------------------------------------
Hardware Compatibility with EMS USB2
----------------------------------------
This was fun...

Okay, this is not a complaint, but more of a how-to until EMS can come up with some DX10/Vista compatible drivers.

As usual, install their exe first...I doubt it helps any but do it anyways.

Now I'm gona whore out my filefront, so that you can get the files contained in the setup file (since I believe it doesn't transfer them all).

http://hosted.filefront.com/glanawal

Get Joy2Key while you're there, since some pre-dx10 games use the Windows API to gather joystick status, which does not work (sorry, no dx10 games either from the looks of it).

Place these files from the archive in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS:
EMSUSB2.SYS
FltrKbd.SYS

Place these files from the archive in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32:
UsbPadCP.DLL
UsbPadFF.DLL

right-click the usbpadzz.inf and select install

If it asks to overwrite, say yes. I'm not sure if that's absolutely
necessary, but a few files were missing when I installed.

Run the "Force Current Set.reg" file and allow it to write
to the registry (This inserts the missing control set for DirectInput).

TADA! EMS is good to go with most pre-dx10 softwares.

Let's just hope EMS makes a DX10-compatible
Vista driver soon.

Now if you run across software that doesn't like this (I found Sonic Heroes to be a culprit, however StepMania worked quite well) then you will need to pass the input via joy2key (I know it's a shoddy solution, but somthing has to work rite? )

----------------------------------------
Software Compatibility
----------------------------------------

SSRMAX - Works perfectly (even without the compatibility mode, although I never needed that in WnXP either)

StepMania - Detects two "4 Axis 16 Button Joysticks" so I can assume somthing is working.

The one that nobody is supposed to talk about - The executable itself works perfectly (as per usual), however the device mapper apparently relies on a certain com object to be in the system (run-time error 429). If I find a fix it'll go on my filefront as well, but for now there is always ssrmax...lol.

There's the rundown. Now discuss.

There is now a vista driver, actually. It's still in BETA, but you can find it HERE
