Polling rate doesn't do much but I don't really need it.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | I was sniffing around, and looking for changing Vista polling rates and this is what i found it... here
it says at your own risk, but if you're still having tons of problems.. this should work.
EDIT:
also found that hidusb.sys works quite well with vista. I prefer this solution much better as it has a lot less fiddling with your system, and this is much more simple. click, install volia.

What USB adapter should I get?

Marketplace Rating: 0 | This lag that we're talking about... is it when you press the keys fast, and not all of them register? I just want to clear it up.
I just bought a converter. It works fine with the PS2 dual shock controller, like all of the hits register even if I mash the buttons fast. But on the JPKOC, not all of the hits register.
I've tried increasing the polling rate by 250Hz, 500Hz and 1000Hz using UsbRate v0.5, and nothing happens.

Example: I press a button 5 times within a second, and only the first and last hits register.
And yeah BTW, I had no idea you had to reset after setting the poll rate. I fixed the damned lag. kay, thanks anyway. Why does this happen to me lol. I figure out shit right after posting.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | input lag testor input lag used to drive me crazy 'till i found this app http://cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~cheguo/File...tLagTestor.zip
it allows you to get an accurate reading of just how much input lag you're experiencing from any given input in milliseconds
if you're testing out your ps2-usb adapters, you might want to use joy2key or something
using this, i've found that my dilong ps2 to usb adapter adds very little lag whatsoever, neither does my usb refresh rate or lcd monitor
no matter whether i'm using a crt or lcd, a wired or wirelss keyboard, a usb joypad or ps2-usb adapter, i always get around 16.5ms of input lag
when i test this on my other two computers, i get between .5-3ms input lag
i've finally detemined that the extra 15ms or so is due to the nvidia drivers
i'm using an nvidia 9800gt, and from what i've gathered by asking others to test their input lag and report their results, is that nvidia just add's an unavoidable 16ms of input lag when you use their vidoe cards/drivers
it's quite a shame really
radeon's seem to only have about 4ms input lag
now 16ms might not seem that much, but it makes all the difference in the world when it comes to beatmania and ddr games in pc
stepmania has the 'global offset' feature, which allows you to enter the value of -16.5ms into the config file, which makes it pretty much dead-on
unfortunately i haven't found any way to make input lag adjustments for any iidx games on pc so far.
please give the app a try, and post you input lag and video card settings, just so i might be able to confirm some theories.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | ummm..both BePachi and LR2 have timing adjust options. In BPM, it's outside the actual game (well, technically, it can be accessed through the main game, but it's easier just to load the options program first), and LR2 has one in game under play settings.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I know this is an 8 month old thread, however I think it's worth posting for the fellow Nvidia graphics card users here as an answer wasn't found in this thread.
I'm running Windows XP with an Nvidia Geforce GT 7950 graphics card.
After a good amount of searching I found an answer to fix the 16ms lag that's caused from Nvidia drivers. It was a bitch to find and might make games other than Bemani emulators and such suffer tearing but it reduces the lag from 16ms to about .25. Combine this with the increased USB polling rate and you have a near instant controller.
Go to your Control Panel, then NVIDIA Control Panel. Under 3D settings should be manage 3D settings. Under global settings set the maximum pre-rendered frames to 0 (Should be 3 by default) and set the vertical sync to "force off". This should eliminate any lag that you would get. I was playing Pop'n last night with my Super Joybox 3 and it was flawless.
Here's a screenshot with all of my settings visible.
Also, a thread with a discussion about Nvidia's input lag which is where I found this solution. Lets talk about: INPUT LAG! - Page 5 - Guru3D.com Forums
For those of you that weren't able to find a solution and were stuck with the hassle of adjusting the timing from in-game, I hope this helps.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | To overclock USB ports use this: How to Increase USB Sample Rate in Windows Vista/7
There's even a button that allows it to work on not-mouse devices.
That guide + my dao + inPin + LR2 = Gonna need a new pair of pants.
Seriously.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I give up. I've tried polling rates. I've tried different adapters. I've tried different controllers. But no matter what I do, I always get 40 ms of USB input lag, from all USB devices, in Windows.
I don't see any Vsync options in the AMD Catalyst drivers, so I don't know what to try there.
I've owned a Super Joy Box 3 Pro, EMS USB2, and what I think is some Dilong adapter. It's all the same. I always have to set -0.04 seconds for GlobalOffset in Stepmania, and after all these years I'm still not sure that's accurate.
The USKOC has a problem of its own, and that plus Windows's lag makes IIDX sims unplayable.
I can deal with the lag for GF/dm/DTXMania, since its window is quite large compared to IIDX or DDR/ITG. But I've driven myself insane trying to play Stepmania/OpenITG accurately.
I've tried these adapters in Linux, and got no lag. That solidifies my belief that it's Windows's fault and Windows will always give you 40 ms of lag. Sure, there's Stepmania/OpenITG for Linux, but as for LR2 or DTXMania, I'm screwed.
Does anyone else have any ideas? Am I missing something? Or is this lag just unavoidable?
What's strange is that my keyboard doesn't seem to exhibit the same symptoms. Are keyboards specially designed or something?
EDIT: I recorded myself playing DTXMania, then slowed down the video to half speed, and it's clear that I'm striking the drum pads ahead of the beat

Marketplace Rating: 3 | Have you actually gotten the polling rates to, you know, work? You're testing them out? Instead of just using HIDUSBF or whatever to say there's a filter and 1000 Hz?
LR2 works in Wine also afaik
